I've been reading up for the last few days about different exhaust options. Does anyhow have any experience or advice with a partial Ragnar cut?  I've considered cutting out 1/3 of each pipe and see what the effects are.  I figure if I don't like it, then I could always use that as leverage to install glass packs.

My bike came with the Ragnar cut...raspy sound, sounded great to me and pretty loud, but 20min and the ears are begging for mercy. I then installed a Supertrapp exhaust and was able to tune the volume, but I missed the sound of hearing each cylinder pop(it kind of blended them, being three into one system with a glass pack). I finally found set of stock pipes that just had the piggies cut off and they sounds awesome, not raspy, very deep pitch and you hear each cylinder pop, yet no ear issues on the highway or just putting around, again this is a subjective view, and maybe my hearing isn't as good as yours Wink

I've no experience with a partial Ragnar.

One of my bikes came with a full cut and 24" truck stacks.

It sounded good, especially when cranked, but like many others, the drone got to me and I put a set of OEM's on.

Mine is stock with the piggies cut and 12" open slashcuts. The stock tips have a tinny sound thus I made my own tips. Hope to have them chromed sometime soon but liking the VHT cast iron finish.

I would search for a post by MarkT of the Horseapple Ranch on this. Wish I had done his suggestion. Basically you cut the muffler at a certain dimension from the back of the can. It removes the resonators in a way that you can re-utilize them if you are not happy with the result.

I think it was 7 and some odd fraction inches...

But do the search. I had the link at one time but my VALKYRIE folder in my shortcuts seems to have vanished (ugh!).

I have cut off the piggies and drilled out the rear baffles. That was enough of an increase in volume for me.

If your exhaust is in good shape right now, I would suggest trying to find a different set of pipes to play with, or a set that have already been modified. Unmodified pipes are harder to find, from what I've heard.
