Good Evening,

I am new to the Valkyrie family. I just purchased a 1998 two weeks ago. I now have gone out and looked at the bike and it has red fluid at the bottom of the rim on the front of my Valk. What is this from? Brake fluid? I couldn't find anything on the forum about colors of fluids. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Happy New Year to All,

Sometimes front forks are rebuilt with ATF as it has similar properties of fork fluid. Check your fork seals for leaking. Clean it off and see if it returns.

Your front fork(s) is leaking. Search the forums for multiple topics about fixing the leak using a 35mm film.

If it's been ridden, and assuming it's fork oil, there should be a fine spray on the timing cover, and a trail down the forks (and you want to be sure your brake pads are not oiled).  It will be thin and may not look red on the timing cover, wipe it with a white cloth and see if it looks red.

Then get a Seal Mate (OK) or Seal Doctor (much easier to use).
