Any Valk riders in the Norfolk, VA area that can recommend a good maintenance shop for the Valk? Specifically, fork work?
I've had hit or miss luck with the Honda dealership in California (mostly miss) and the best help I got was from fellow forum members (mike4sho and fordmano, also in California).
I'm currently 10,000+ miles from home and won't be back until May. Before I left I noticed my front left fork is leaking a little bit (tried the 35mm film trick and it still leaked) but didn't have time to do much about it. Still "new" to the Norfolk area and didn't find a shop in time. I'm in the Willoughby Spit area.
I will be able to have someone get it to the shop before I get back, but hard to find one from where I'm at. Suggestions?
I know there is an abundance of great help on this board, but I can't do anything from here other than get my bike in a shop. I'll be back in May and want to ride! Miss the Valk like a dear old friend.
Thanks for the help!

When I was in your position, I was referred to Tidewater in Suffolk, http://www.tidewatermotorcycles.com/However, I have not used them. This was for my 82, which is still in need but parked in Pa. Several people raved about them, including two that ride Harleys and don't wrench themselves. We should meet up, I commute to the base every day, get off the Bay Ave exit unless I need gas. Then I get off closer to you at 4th View. I'm guessing you are haze grey and underway?

I recommend Absolute Performance Cycles in Newport News. It's about 40 min west of Norfolk but worth the drive. The owner, Charlie, is retired military and runs a top notch shop. They are familiar with Valk's. Their website is Absoluteperformancecycles.com and the phone number is 757-820-0909. Steve Clark

I couldn't get the Tidewater Motorcycle site to load up, so I took Steve's advice and gave Charlie a call... seems like a great guy. He found some stuff I wasn't looking at (like wear-bars, I hate to say I missed them before I left). The bike's visit to the shop is more expensive than I planned with new tires (Charlie insisted on Commander 2's, so I'll try them), new back brakes, fluids, and a repaired front fork. Sounds like I'll be all good to go when I get back. I'm headed home! We spent a few days in Valencia then Rota, Spain... and will be home soon! Can't wait to pick up the bike and take her for a ride!

I usually come in the back gate, but would be happy to meet up sometime. I haven't had much chance to ride our area since moving from CA JAN2015 with the weather and workups leading to our cruise. I'm planning on riding the Blue Ridge with my dad over Memorial Day. You commute on your Valkyrie from Elizabeth City every day? Next tour I'll probably be out of Suffolk with about a 30-45 minute ride.

I do bike-commute every day, yes, but typically ride the 93 Red-Wing (40+ mpg). Today, I rode the Fast Black Valk IS.
I'm topside in Bldg SP-300 on A St. (Earl, the Sikorsky Rep)
