Hello All.  I finally bit the bullet and bought a brand new 2014 Valkyrie.  I purchased it in Dallas for $12500+TTL but no fees plus I received a $500 gift card that I was able to use on parts with an additional 20 percent discount.  I bought a tall windshield and the rivco hiway pegs.  I gave it a quick ride without the shield and then quickly went and installed the shield.  The bike is amazing.  First gear is of course too low but that is not a big deal.  The engine of course is super smooth and makes this bike worth the price.  I have been looking at the F6c for sometime but then I started looking at the CTX1300.  The dealer has deluxe models for $10900.00.  I might have bought one but lost interest when I found out the motor was de-tuned relative to the ST1300 and the suspension sucks.  It is still probably a great bike (especially at the reduced price).  The only thing I don't like about the Valkyrie is that you have to add all the stuff to make it a all day cruiser.  Things like backrest, pegs, 12v power, windshield.  I am excited about taking it on a long ride.  Thanks to all the contributors on this forum.  So far I have read about 15 pages of threads.

Not sure I understand , maybe I should remove this , someone will get the wrong idea  Grin

I am still a non owner , too cold to ride so I am in no hurry .

Yeah , the ctx1300 is a loser  , they  de-powered it , why on earth they did this is beyond me .
I too was interested  in the CTX  until I learned  about the  loss of power .
Having owned a ST1300 I am very familiar  with that engine

The prices have come way down on the Valk , but I believe they were never gonna stay that high to began with , they just wnat  us to feel like we got a great deal and so they would sell more  , everyone wanting to get in on the action , we are such suckers  for discounts  , it's really a  scam on how they trick us into believing we are getting a good deal

Hi dhalle,

I too looked at the CTX1300, and then decided to not buy one for the same reasons.  Especially when I found out how low the HP was.

As for having to add stuff to the Valk, it is part of the joy of making it your own.  Not sure about you, but putting farkles on my bike is one of the things I love most to do.  I don't care for LED lighting like the Goldwing guys do, but figuring out how to mount stuff, or how to make stuff fit is one thing that I love to do.  Luckily I have my wife's Spyder F3S that I can do stuff to as well.  It keeps me occupied.  Although, I am quickly running out of stuff to put on my Valk, and her Spyder.

Thanks for the replies.  I agree that farkles make the bike "your own".  I really would like the corbin seat with the dual backrests and the corbin bags but I don't want to shell out that kind of dough.  I have seen the alternatives as well and I am not sure without seeing them in person.  Decisions.....

After my bike crash with my R1200 GS 2013 (the best bike in the world indeed, so easy, confortable and fast),  I understood that the car drivers won't ever be on the level  crazy2 so I decided to be less sporty. I discovered the CTX 1300 and thought that the bike was awesome, comfortable, very unique in style, BT sound system etc. I kept the bike two or three months, drove 3000 miles, enough to understand that 85 HP for such a weight is definitely not enough because your average speed is even with the cars and their drivers, my best ennemies, and the suspension really sucks, even on highways.  uglystupid2
So I bought a F6C and I have all the advantages of the CTX 1300 without the flaws. BTW, in France the CTX is not on the market anymore  Grin but neither the F6C  Shocked

I do computer testing for a living.  crazy2  I have just learned how to do stuff as time went on.  I just figured that it is better that I learn how to do things, and buy the tools that I need then paying someone to do it for me.  It has been way cheaper in the long run.  I am mechanically inclined, but my real talents lay in carpentry.
Before I do anything I always check out what exactly it entails.  I have never been afraid to try something, and in the end, if it doesn't work, I have gained some more knowledge, and lost a little money.   Grin  If I think it is out of my skills then I find someone to help me and I watch them do it.

Actually Kidd...ah it IS a good deal man when you consider what other bikes of it's same class sell for!!  You're just cheap, face it... Grin  You should quit blabbering about getting one and just get it, or stop saying you will.

Seriously, look at other bikes in THE SAME CLASS (of which there a few)... at like $11,500...what I paid for mine...it was LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything else NEW..value wise...and this is BEFORE you take into account what kind of bike it really is.

With bikes like this , 1 of several available http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/mcy/5368904601.html
I am still considering a couple of others , triumph rocket  111 is another

I found a blue 2014 Valk with 3600 miles located west and north , 1K miles  away  from me , just waiting for the  weather to get warmer , I am NOT riding in 50 degree temps

Took my R1200R out for a short ride today , sure appreciate  the light weight of this bike and it's pretty fast too , but the vibes , tired of them

Yes , Adrian , considering what they are , it's a very good deal , I agree  , I never thought of it any other way .

dehile - welcome to the sleek 1800 world.  I have had 2 1500 interstates and currently have a 1500 tourer. These bikes always put a smile on my face however in May I bought a new black 1800c and now I have a euphoric smile that you can't wipe away.  All I have to say is ENJOY!  cooldude

The black and cream is a Shadow 1100 Tourer we bought for my wife, she tried for a short time and decided to stay a passenger

I don't think so , no way , Honda never made a 2000 , 1800 is the largest they have made for a Valk

Perhaps it's more of a Valk vs. Wing identity crisis.
