Looking at the instructions....

I'd say mount it on the left side. That's just a random guess though.

There is a mounting boss for the outlet in the center of the storage compartment underneath the seat; the electrical connection is a plug fixed to the forward bulkhead of said storage compartment.

I don't get why Honda expects you to mount it in the luggage compartment, behind a lock, under a side cover.  Doesn't seem real usable.

Especially if you have a Corbin seat and the side cover won't easily come off anymore...

But I use mine to drive a relay, so I don't really need easy access...

The underseat storage compartment is not a sealed area (regretfully  Sad ), the gaps between the tank and the seat, on both sides of the tank, lead directly into the compartment.  If you need temporary external cable access to the fitted lighter plug you can easily use those gaps as wire guides.  Also, the locking door to the compartment is a facing only; running a wire up and behind, underneath seat and/or along the rear fender, should also be easily possible.

Yeah, I have a cig-lighter power port that I connected to the battery (fussed) and leave it in the lock-box. I plug my USB phone charge cable and run it under the seat to the left saddle bag, then if I need to plug my phone or tablet in I just leave it in the bag.

I have to say that even though the lock-box is not sealed, it's open under the seat, I've ridden in all weather conditions, in heavy rain and hail and the contents of the lock-box have always been dry.

Thanks, that's nice to hear, I've been trying to plan out how I would deal with moisture issues as I have mounted up the cig lighter, from which I will be tapping off for a 30A relay and 6-gang fusebox.
