After several recommendations I purchased and installed the lift adapter for $50 off ebay and went to jack up the bike tonight.  I have the harbor freight 1500lb lift.  (yellow one)  As I started to lift it up it looks like the lift is making a little contact with the header pipes.... its close and i cant tell if they are getting any pressure.

I put a 3/4" board on top of the lift the same width as the lift and about 7" wide... bike seemed to want to slip off the board i bolted to the lift.

Does anyone else have this combo who could tell me their secret or is the lift even putting pressure on the headers?  Looks pretty level....

Thanks a ton!

I have the same set up and no touching of the pipes. My adapter is the take off type not the one you leave on.

I made my own adapter from info in a shop talk link.

I don't see how a lift could touch OEM pipes with my stays-on-the-bike adapter, and it's only 3/4" high steel box tubing.  Are your pipes not OEM and hang much lower?  I just ran a batch of these adapters.

No issue with the adapter at all... if I'm lifting from the left side of the bike it would be the right arm of the lift.  I'll try to post a picture after bit.  I'm thinking the lift arms are just too long.  It may not be putting any weight on the pipes just touching.

I've always lifted from the right side - easier to watch the bike/adapter/jack and keep all squared up as the lift raises. Nothing gets near the pipes - stock on one bike, Cobras on another. BTW, shouldn't matter, but my adapter is the old original Spoonland. (Yes, I left it bolted on - ONCE!  crazy2 )

Are you standing it up level to begin the jacking process?

I don't - bolt the adapter on, slide the jack under from the right. Hold the bike and let the jack lift the bike off the kickstand. The jack rolls back as the bike lifts to its balance point, then up it goes!
