I know it`s out there but I can`t find. A step by step "how to" For all vac. lines. I know Gas size is 5/16" and Vac. is 5/32". And that is about as far as I go. Embarrassed I have a 98 Tourer with 22,500 miles, no mods at all. She runs great, 36 to 40 MPG, the way I ride. No popping on decel, starts w/o choke in warm weather. All seems to be "right on". So , why mess with it? I know sooner or later she will have a vac. leak. No, I`m not going to desmog, I don`t think. Undecided So I thought I would change lines this Winter if some of the smart ones here would take me by the hand and destruck--- huh, instruck me so I don`t screw anything up. Thanks for any advise. cooldude

If you find metric size vac tubing, it's 3.5mm. If it runs good, don't mess with it. It's not like there's a catastrophic failure. The popping starts slow and gradually gets worse as time passes. Tighten carb clamps and get 6 #123 Orings in viton or silicone for the intake runners. Just keep parts on hand incase things go South.

Thanks to all. I think I can handle it now. One question; does the air box have to come off ? I have read that it is a PIA to put back on.  Undecided

Dave thanks for the offer. You are just looking for a excuse to ride to Ky hills. How is your daughter doing in College ? Was it Georgetown ? I forget, old age kicks in every once in a while.  Sad  Thanks again and be safe.

If your bike has not been de-smogged, it does have to come off.  Here is a tutorial for putting the airbox back on...
