I just want to jump in here about alternatives filters. Here I am talking the foam and grease type...name not important.

My experience is with diesel light trucks: alwayws underpowered. Big breathers. Need air and feel the difference if you feed them.

Foam/grease filters/pre filters made absolutely NO difference to the perceived performance of the motor. That is to say I struggled up the same hils, took off from the same lights ...at the same pedestrian rate as with the same std filter...paper. So the gain may be measurable (3hp/100?) but not measurable or useful.

Seriously, if a mod OF ANY KIND makes a 3% difference..... WTH?

rugunnano?

Given that the filter ability of stock paper filters is better as installed and the gain is either null or VERY small, stick with stock.

Also unless you maintain your oil based filter with a wash and new grease, it will get better at filtering as dust builds up but your engine will starve of air.

Same with all paper filters but OEM is better at the start at cleaning,.
