Saw a picture of that on facebook and wondered the same thing. Anyone know what was used? It would sure make polishing things easier.

Ha Ha!! Nice one, DaPrez! I have read somewhere that there is an "aircraft paint stripper" available that will remove clearcoat etc. Don't know where to get it. Ride safe.

Don't know the answer about a specific stripper, but I bet it is an alkali type, which makes it water soluble.
If you are trying to remove clear coat, how about old brake fluid? Everyone has a bottle or 4 sitting around, left over from a top up, that shouldn't be used because it's an open bottle.

According to the fb post it is methylene chloride based stripper. I search for this on eBay and found it. Appears to be pretty nasty stuff.

I've tried brake fluid, doesn't touch it. The aircraft stripper I have seen in auto parts stores.
Haven't seen Candi or the kit kat klub.

I remember back in the late 80's early 90's I worked selling automotive parts and refinishing business. There was a product called Kleen Strip Aircraftpaint remover, holy stripper batman (sorry Candi or Kit Kat Club) I see that it is still made, but knowing how the E.P.A. (Employment Prevention Agency) has changed formulas for most of the products in the automotive chemical industry. Here's what I've found. http://www.kleanstrip.com/product/aircraft-paint-removerRide on. Michael

I can vouch for the Aircraft Paint remover. Wear a face mask and gloves before you handle any, that $hit smells nasty. Use a paint brush and apply liberally, leave it on for about 10 minutes and almost everything bubbles off. Use 0000 steel wool and GLOVES and scrub off the clearcoat. Repeat if necessary one more time. Clean up with water.

And how good is it? One application. Will it etch the aluminum case too?

I have stripped paint completely off of boats. Quite a big job. I tried the aircraft stripper and that stuff will eat you alive. Even with gloves and a mask. Anywhere it touches gets burned. Nasty stuff. Something that I found that works very well is a soy based stripper and available through Sherwin-Williams. It does not burn you and works in around 15 minutes or so on pretty much whatever paint is out there except epoxy.

AutoZone sells a clear coat stripper that works well. Spray on, let dry, and blow off with compressed air. Don't go overboard with the stripper and blow wording
