Author Topic: Questions about F6B and F6C differences?  (Read 4393 times)

Just wondering if our drive train is identical? How about the tire height on the C verses the B, does that make for a slightly lower on the tach at highway speeds? How about the weight differences, can you tell the C is slightly quicker? Just curious how much alike the B and C are...

The reason I ask this is a friend of mine bought the B and I bought the C... He was curious if the tire size makes a difference, like slightly lower gear ratio on the taller tire of the C. So, really I am asking just that. I have never read anything about referring to tire size and RPM differences.

I can't wait to ride the F6C.... Everything I read about them, makes me more anxious..... Thanks for any reply's, I do appreciate them

Thanks for any help...

Of course you'd better try both in order to compare  Wink

When I tried the F6B I was happily surprised by the weight and handling compared to the standard Wing and when I tried the F6C I was enthousiastic  Grin
I never thought of buying a Wing before that (and still don't  2funny) because it's too heavy and massive for me. I like the simplicity of the Valk, the humbleness so to speak  angel

There are massive subjective and objective differences between them.

Only one interested me enough to bring it home  from the dealer  Smiley

Never done a driving comparison of the two bikes but aside from the obvious appearance differences the Valks have bigger brakes, different tire sizes and lighter weight other than that they are the same. If you really want to research it the reviews would probably be best. All of them commented on the Valks better handling and better acceleration. Partly due to weight differences and one difference I forgot to mention the frame has a slightly different angle to fork rake giving the Valk a sportier feel.

The F6B is a wing without the rear trunk, the Valk is a different bike, and my opinion echos others here, I wont buy a wing or an F6B a command console is not for me. I will also say the Valk is way cheaper than either of the other bikes. Spending 11k for a bike that otherwise would be 18 to 23k is a bargain. You get all the best mechanicals of the wing without the bulk or cost. To me you get more of what is important at less price and bulk.

Seating position is different and there is a site that has seating heights and positions listed. As for tire size I have no idea if it makes a difference because when I am going down 95 and have trouble keeping the speed down or hit the gas and accelerate away the tire size comparison is the only thing that would not be on my mind. I did put Michelines on my bike and the bike handles great with them. Good luck in making your decision.

Everything you said is right Robert ! In France the Valk was initially overpriced (+/- 22,500 $) and nobody bought it (not expensive enough I guess  crazy2) this is why the Valk is not sold in France anymore (but the F6B still is).

Hey Robert, are u sure man?  I didn't research it either, but I think the wheel sizes differ as well.  It's a bitch finding a matching set of tires for the Valk...never heard of a Wing guy having any difficulty.

Having said that, I don't think I'd ever buy a 'Goldwing' B...just to big..I like the raw, more naked version of the Goldwing 'Valkyrie'... Hands down the coolest bike I have ever owned...

I may buy another bike one day because I love them...but I will most like NEVER sell my Valkyrie.  I cannot say that I ever felt that way about any bike I bought new before.  I knew that I'd get something else.

Sorry Adrian I probably didn't make myself clear and you are correct the wing and the F6B are the same sizes the Valk is different.

DAMN! I was hoping I was wrong man...If I was, that would mean the choices of tires would grow considerably!

Wink The 19 inch front wheel and different rake-angle of the front forks is the reason the Valkyrie out handles the F6B. These guys are correct. The F6B is a Goldwing without a tail trunk. You need to ride them to see

150 LBS lighter than the Goldwing and 85 LBS lighter than the F6B also doesn't hurt either.  cooldude

The 2014 Honda Valkyrie features a single-sided swingarm. Out back is an 180/55R-17 tire, while a 130/60R-19 resides up front. Twin 310mm front discs are clamped by a pair of four-piston calipers; a huge 316mm disc with a three-piston caliper is on duty in back. ABS is optional. The seat, only 28.8 inches off the pavement, looks well padded and comfortable, while the passenger seat and grab rails can be easily removed for a clean rear fender.

I only paid 15 K for my 2013 F6B brand new and with a 4 year warranty and $1000 dollars in accessories in 2014.

I drove both of these back to back and there are really stark differences, in my opinion.  I liked the F6b.  It was silky smooth and it still pulled pretty well for a relatively loaded bike.  I loved the Valkyrie.  It's A different animal entirely.  It's fairly incredible how nimble it feels relative to almost any bike, especially a bike with a full fairing.  At low speeds, all that weight at the front tire makes a huge difference, and at higher speeds, there's just no reason to even compare them.   The trade-offs are the ergonomics.  For me, the new Valk just isn't nearly as comfortable as my '99 Standard, or the F6b.  The seat has much less padding at the nose, the pegs are just a bit off what feels natural, and the handlebars are just not ideally spread out.  (For me, I'm 6'). I think that I'll be able to fix most of those issues with a little seat customizing, though.  I have enough faith in that that the Valk is what made it into my garage.  It's just a hell of a lot of fun to ride.  For anyone else, I would imagine this choice would come down to how much touring you do, and how much you're willing to customize right after you purchase.  Both are amazing bikes.  Hope this helps.  Happy riding. Good post and as I was reading it I thought how much I have done to my 1500 to make it mine. Its almost like I redid the bike. The 1800 I have not done nearly as much which is really part of the reasons why I bought it.

You know the seat on my bike has actually softened some since I first got it last May.  I've been using a new Armorall product called OUTLAST...pretty heavy duty stuff.  Really makes all the non metal pieces completely beautiful and it seems to have softened the seat somewhat.  Maybe I am getting used to this bike...but it doesn't appear to be as uncomfortable to ride as it did when I first got it.  Yes, it took me a bit to get used to the new peg position as opposed to the far forward controls of my Shadow..but now that I have..I like it.  I can ride more aggressively, and it is cool to stand up on the pegs like I use to on my dirt bikes of the last century.  I can still get highway pegs which in itself will go A LONG way to improve the seat's comfort factor.  Just not sure now if is necessary now that I have gotten more use to this newer riding position.  I wonder what it would be like now to get on my old bike again...  I'd probably not like it!

Hey Scottsscooter and others,

Just a feed back from someone who owned the F6B for 14 months and decided to swap for the F6C.

First al all, I was never fully decided between both..got an opportunity to get an F6B , so I went with it.
This is a fantastic bike, well designed, smooth incredible power...

Soon I realised that what I loved most was the engine ... I didn't really need the fairing and stuff, never used the radio, I have to admit that the bags come handy sometimes...

Now I have the F6C and it's like a rebirth ... I can feel alive again... on the F6B I felt retired Smiley and on the Valk I feel like a teenager again Smiley

Both are easy to handle, move, turn, ride...
The F6C has a more modern style (tach, LED,..)
Both are smooth and powerful (even though you can have a better feel about power on the Valk)

Just not ready yet for the F6B or even the full Gold Wing, I'm still a naked cruiser kind of guy.

hope this helps to find the best choice for your style. Again they both have positive points and are wonderful to ride.

ps: your ass and body position will tell you instantly the one to choose from the first mile. not just seating on it in a store.
