While getting to know my audio control head the other day. I was adjusting the fader control, and noticed that my left rear speaker was dead.
Well if I'm going to replace one speaker I might as well change them all.
From what I've read the JM speakers are an exact fit for the Valk.
Just wondering if they are constructed any better than the OEM speakers, and give better sound.
I see that they are 3 Ohm, like the originals but with a higher wattage rating. I also see that they have plastic diaphragms. Aren't the OEMs made of paper?
Has anyone made the change to these speakers?
I have read many of you have gone to Polk speakers, but I am nervous about "modifying" anything to make them fit.

I switched to Polk DB501's on my '05 Wing. The mod is easy and very simple. The DB speakers are a marine speaker and are waterproof. Cheaper than J&M's too.

I tried a set of JM speakers (not cheap Sad) and one went bad after a while so decided to go with Polk and all has been good for a couple of years.

If I had to do it again I would save myself some $$ and go directly with the Polks, modification is not bad.

The DB501 is a 5" speaker. They also make a 4" speaker (DB401?), which should be a direct replacement. Now I looked about 3-4 years ago when I did the rear speaker upgrade in my IS trunk.
