I was looking around at the instructions in the manual for steering stem bearing maintenance. There's some
special tools listed, turns out one is ungoogleable: 07935-MJ1000B

I did some head scratching and cross referencing, and believe that 07935-MJ1000B is a typo... google for
07953-MJ1000B... I think that's what they meant to say  cooldude ... anyhow, I'll know soon...

I wondered if other people had come up short looking for a 07935-MJ1000B and found this in the tech archives
from 2006:

I'm going to replace the steering stem bearings and races because the races have an indent to them at the handle bar center position. Using Hondas Valk Service Manual as a reference it indicates that there are 9 different tools necessary to drive out and in the bearings and races. When I checked with the Power Sports Pro web site http://www.powersportspro.com/Partsfish/, I found 8 of the 9, the ninth apparently is not available ( I will check with my local stealer tomorrow). Does anyone have these tools available for rent? Any advice as to what to expect when doing the job?

Also the Power Sports Pro web site parts fiche
http://www.powersportspro.com/Partsfish/displayfiche.asp
regarding the actual bearings and races does not show the replacement races, I'm not to worried yet as I need to call my stealer tomorrow

The part numbers are as follows;
Stem socket 07916-3710100
REMOVER BRG 07946-3710500
DRIVER STEERING STEM 07946-MB00000
DRIVER 07749-0010000
ATTACHMENT 52X55MM 07746-0010400
ATTACHMENT 42X47MM 07746-0010300
ATTACHMENT 37X40MM 07746-0010200
07RAK-S040122 07949-3710001

And the one that can't be located on the fiche is
Bearing Race Remover Attachment 07935-MJ1000B

Thanks,

I didn't find any one place that had all the special tools (I didn't like call them on the phone
or anything, I just used google) so I made three orders from three different places... they'll
probably drizzle in slowly over the next couple of weeks...

I usually "make do", but I ordered the driver, socket and two attachments listed for replacing
swingarm bearings, and they were so cool that I figgered I could do the head bearings too if
I had the right tools!

You get a set..upper and lower with the dust ring as well, and a lot less than Honda.

Hey Mike, if u look closely at that white chair you will see a considerable amount of dirt and grime on it that makes it look a bit green, so I would say you are ok with a green chair. You could use your green chair to do some white painting projects or something and it would probably turn out very similar, not quite as good as the greenish white but close enuf!  With a green chair, you need to hold your head at a different angle to utilize the special tool properly. crazy2

I recently replaced my steering head bearings and only had purchased the socket... but probably could have done without that and just made one with some pipe and an old socket to tac weld to the pipe.

Anyhow,  to get the old races out I used a punch to knock out the top one and the bottom one needed a bent punch to get at the lip (needed the right angle).  To take the lower bearing off the stem I used a punch.  To put the new bearing back on the stem I used the inner race from the old bearing and a piece of pipe over the stem on the old race against the new race.  To put the new races in the steering head I used a piece of allthread. 2 nuts and some larger washers, and the old races I took out, to drive (actually pull together back inset in the head).

This winter I might get into that swingarm bearing stuff... and I do have the socket for that as well, but that's it.  So maybe I should look at what tools are required and get to fabricating now.... or buy some.

I did the fork springs, seals and bushings as well... and I had one of high tech fancy white elbow tools you show up there but didn't use it for some reason.  I did use a WorkMate bench instead of the fancy white chair you have there too.

Those links for the partsfiche don't work for me.....
