I noticed that the other day when I was cruising at about 40 mph I heard a grinding/rubbing noise coming from the front end. I can go up to 50 and don't hear it, but if I coast down to 40 it starts and then at 37 or lower it stops. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Chris

3 guesses for me.....

wheel bearings (check these last of course)

Inner fender sound deadening pad rubbing on tread of tire at certain speeds.

tire cup noise on road (noticed when turning)  air up to 40psi and check for tire cupping.

Could be the brake pads, does it stop when you apply the front brakes? I had the left rear bearing go and it sounded like it was coming from the front but I'm on an Interstate and the sound was just reflecting off the fairing. I suppose if you were on a Tourer it could do the same thing. Bearing noise should not go away speeding up or slowing. Could just be the deading pad too, as mentioned. One other thing could be the speedometer.
