The holes drilled in the OEM saddlebag lids for mounting chrome racks have cracked out from the holes and then a small piece of one lid broke out. Anyone know how to repair the cracks? I have not been able to find replacement lids.
Thanks

Search the site for Repairing ABS, or repairing saddlebags, there has been a lot of information posted about it and some results people have had.

Do you still have the piece?

ABS plumbing plastic adhesive is what most use. There is a black available.

There is also some special stuff too.

I still have some saved ABS plastic from the front of my IS. You can also get some ABS pipe, cut in half, and put it in the toaster oven, and let it heat up and melt flat. Now you have some raw material to fix the part.

Also the holes that haven't broken yet, make some washers and glue it on the inside of the lid.

A link for what I was referring to.

BLACK A B S glue. Holds it together AND can be used as a filer. After the glue is dry can be sanded and painted. RIDE SAFE.

Black and only black abs glue. Sand off the paint. Put painters blue tape on the outside and glue from the inside. Do not rush the drying time. Use a couple coats and allow to dry completely before putting on a second coat. When completely dry , remove the tape and glue the outside. You can build the surface up and sand down. Fill all voids with glue. Take your time. Keep the project warm. Black and only black abs glue. Buy it in small  cans as it will go bad if left open to long.

IF holes are drilled, the circumference should then be melted to create a flow, reduce stress points.

best is to melt the hole to begin with.  you could predrill a same hole to help align a steel rod.   het the rod and push thru, removing melt as need from the bottom side.....

melt melt melt.

I have used a devcon epoxy good for plastic and built up the inside of my bags to create another layer of strength
