As long as we make it back from Augusta in time!  Helping our daughter move with the 3 kids.   Her . husband is at Ft. Gordon starting this week.  We should be back Thursday or Friday evening.  Def want to spend some time checking out the bikes and vendors.

We plan to leave Tuesday.  At less than 800 miles from here in Colorado we should be there Thursday PM.  Hope to meet a few VRCC-ers.  I've never been there but it looks like some nice riding.

There will be a few of us from Russellville  heading up for the day either on fri. or sat. We will ride up the 'pig trail' from Ozark and check out this spot at Turner Bend. Last year there was so many bikes here it was hard to find a spot to get off the road.

On this day there were more canoe's than bikes Shocked

Here's the 'official' link:  http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/

We're still planning to go though the weather is about to take a turn for the worse.  The mountains here in Colorado will see snow through most of the week.

I think this is worth mentioning:  If you drink, don't drive!

It's called Donation Transportation, and involves volunteers using their own cars to drive people home who have had too much to drink.

"I just want to keep drunk drivers off the road, I've see what happens," said Dave McCoy, who began the program five years ago.

He had recently retired as an ambulance driver due to a disability, when he fell on some hard times. "I ended up living on the streets and sleeping in my car," said McCoy. "I decided one night, I don't know why I had the idea, if you're going to do nothing, do nothing that will help somebody."

McCoy drew up some handwritten business cards and started offering to drive people home from the bars. Now he's operating the program out of his house every day, just like a cab company, and he has four volunteers.

"I have young men and I know what drinking can do," said Charlene, who's been a volunteer driver for the past year. "The more people use the program, the safer the roads will be."

The rides are based on donations, which vary from 50 cents, to $50, to nothing at all. "If you go into this thinking you're going to make one million dollars you're wrong, you do it from the goodness of your heart."

However, during big events like Bikes, Blues and Barbecue and Razorback games, one driver can make $400 to $500 a night.

"The volunteers keep 90 percent of everything they get, the other ten percent goes to advertising, business cards, so forth," said McCoy.

McCoy said he's always looking for more volunteer drivers. The only requirements include a license, an insured four door car and a great personality.

"What I'm looking for is somebody that is a people person, somebody that can get along with people," said McCoy.

If you're interested in being a driver or using Donation Transportation call 479-313-2531.

Also, for those traveling in the area:

Looks as though there should be some construction on Hwy 23 (Pig Trail) in Franklin County.   Similar to what we encountered last year @Pelisor on 7.  The Highway Dept. is repairing earthen slides and will have STOP signs on each side of the construction zones.  Single lane traffic for both areas are 18.2 & 19.5 miles north of I-40. (North of Hwy 215 intersection in Cass)
