Last night on my commute home, 11pm, the interstate shut down at 60mph, no sputtering, lights and radio still on all gauges working.  Coasted to a stop, pulled in the clutch, hit the starter button, nothing.  Turned key off and then on, hit starter, fired up and rode on home.  I've had this bike a year, this is the second time it has happened.  Same results both times.  Any Ideas?

If when you say "Hit the starter button, nothing" you mean it didn't even spin the starter?

Then it sounds like it's the tip switch. Mounted under the center cover under the seat (in front of battery).

It's either defective, loose from its mount, or out of position. It will kill the the bike when tipped over, and won't let it start until the key has been turned off/on.

If you pull the connector off of the bank angle sensor relay and jumper from one of the white wires to the black/lt green wire, that will bypass the bank angle cutoff.  Be advised, once you do, if you dump the bike, the motor is not going to shutoff.

All good info.. How is the kill switch?? Is it completely in the off position?? Work the switch a few times and push it completely to that position.. Apparently the switch will intermittently kill the engine if you can see the faintest little bit of the end of that rocker switch exposed..

Search the forum for Jumper plug, I had the same problems a few years ago and turned out to be the jumper plug, below the bank angle sensor there is a plug that is taped in the harness. All the grounds terminate there, it gets wet and corrodes . Mine acted the same, would randomly cut off and nothing would work, reworking the connector plug cured it.
Hope this is not it, a pain to get too, battery box must be removed to access it.

Everything works except the starter, could that still be the problem?  FYI, took a 275 mile dayride yesterday, no problems. Like i said, has done it twice in a year and 10k miles.  Hoser
