How do you set idle when idle adjustment has been taken off bike?  I have a replacement but not sure how to set it. Cry

The only time I've used the idle adjustment in 17 years is when I've snyced the carbs, so no experience "setting" it.

My guess is to back off the set screw all the way, put the thing together and turn the screw till your carbs idle at 900 to 1000 rpm.

If it was idling without the idle adjustment, it must have been using the accelerator cable to maintain idle.

Install the idle screw and screw it in til it contacts then, put some slack in the the accelerator cable and adjust the idle, after that adjust the accelerator cable with a small amount of play.

Note the accelerator cable is a push pull so loosen both. When adjusting make sure that you do not over adjust one side and bind the cables.
