Hello guys, i was told that there was an OEM CD box that pluged into the IS harness and was controled by the OEM CB and RADIO controls, i was wondering if there is a way to get those to work with something else?

A CD player ? If so I've not heard or seen of them.

I believe there was an optional Honda CD player to go in a saddlebag.  I have never seen one.

It would certainly be possible to add a CD player to the existing interstate stereo/radio harness.  I have no idea how to do it, and an IPOD holds more music and is a heck of a lot smaller.  Bumpy rides and CD players don't always mix very well.

the radio control on a IS will control the radio, the CB the CD changer if you have one and also the Aux control for a mp3 player if hooked up through the Aux control connection under the right side panel. the left side button on the control panel is for switching between all funtions ( radio,cb,cd and Aux ) the items you have selected will display in the display between the tac and speed. you can select radio and CB to work together or you can select CB and cd to work together also Aux and CB together. or you can select them one at a time. if any are selected with the CB, when the CB channel you have selected receives a transmit it will turn off the radio,CD,or AUX input till the transmission ends, those are the only systems i know that can be controlled with the radio controller. CD changer hard to find almost as hard as the factory CB. but the AUX works with any mp3 player or like. hope it helps

Yup, when I bought my almost new 99 in 2001 it had a rather large 8 or 10 CD changer in the left saddlebag. I don't recall what brand it was, but it was controlled via the handlebar controller. Worked great, but since my co-pilot claimed the Right side bag and most of the trunk for her gear on our longer trips and left me with the Left bag (of which the CD changer took up a third of the space) to accommodate all my gear plus tools, it was quickly removed and replaced with Satellite radio.... Honda's CD changer accessory - a Clarion DC-625 changer/FMC-250 modulator-controller - interfaces to the bike's electrical and FM radio antenna circuits only.

To the best of my knowledge, it's impossible to interface the changer to the OEM Clarion radio for use with the handlebar mounted radio control...because the required interface components were never mounted on the tuner's controller board.

I've had several of these apart and can confirm the absence of such.

However...there may be a fix. I need to obtain an example of the next model in their series and look at the parts on it. Under a stereomicroscope, I might add...because it's all SMT (grain of rice and smaller) size. Mostly 0402 and 0603 stuff.

Addition of these parts isn't going to be done by a backyard tech. It's going to require a bit of experience in working with SMT devices, and it's going to require the appropriate tools as well. That 140w Weller soldering gun in your toolbox simply isn't going to cut it.
