The ECT mod is cheaper and allows you a variable advance.

The trigger wheel, being purely mechanical, gives a set advance all across the range.

You choose.

I had a 4 degree trigger wheel on my first Valk Interstate and then did the ECT mod on my last Interstate.

Being an electrician, the ECT mod was pretty simple and I used the pot instead of a fixed resistor.

As Willow said, the advance can be controlled with the ECT mod and even turned on or off.

Some valks are harder to start in cold weather with the trigger wheel.
