Finally, up here in Minnesota, I have over 1000 miles on my machine. I've been doing a break-in, and went 1000 miles instead of the 300 recommended (Varying speed, no full throttle, etc.). I'm old school yet. Anyway, what a machine!!! I love this motor, and everything else about this bike. Thus far I just have the Honda Tall windscreen and I'm happy with that. One thing I have to say is, its true it feels lighter weight then it is. Very nice in town, at stop lights, parking lots, and etc.... I have had a few goldwings, and the older Valk, This bike was the only bike that really made me excited. I went into and looked at new Harleys, and they are beauties. I looked at many makes, and the Valkyrie was really the only bike I was excited about. I have had over 50ty bikes, and have had some of everything.... Big twins, 5 touring bikes, sport touring, this that, and the other thing too. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I am excited to get back out as soon as weather turns better. I don't ride to aggressively, so I don't mind the factory tires. The seat is a little hard, but the way I look at it, its a saddle, not a couch.... So, I'm going to be fine with it the first year, until funds allow me to think about maybe upgrading to better seat, just maybe, not sure yet. Handling is great, the more I drive it, the more I like it. I do have to say, the first ride, and I realized it is different, and I need to learn the bike, from best shifting, to easy accelerating, to the blinker switch, to the great horn. What a machine... I have been out a hand full of times thus far, and love it more every time I get out to ride. What else can I say, I love it......Fun Fun Fun bike....

I thought the stock seat was just fine for me also untill I went from SLC UT to Lava Hot Springs Idaho. 150 miles in 2 hours and I could barely sit down after. 3 days later the ride home was even worse. If your planning on going very far at all get the Corbin. Completely worth the price.

Yeah.  My average casual ride is 300-400 miles and the stock seat makes me stop every 170-200 miles or so.  That's close to tank range anyway but I ordered a Corbin hoping for a 400 mile single sitting range, which means that when I do my usual 600-1000 mile weekend trip the seat will continue be comfy beyond the tank fill up.

Day-Long seats (Russell) are the most acclaimed for comfort. I've hated then sold every Corbin I've sat on.

I was so so with the Corbin when I got it, the sides pressed into my thighs at a stop but after a few weeks I have gotten used to it so I don't notice anymore. I have yet to do a long enough ride to say how it goes for sure but I have done a 130 mile ride with a group where we did pit stops every 50 miles or so and I felt great compared to the same ride last year where I was sore the next day.

I am very happy with the Corbin and my guess is it's the fact that is not so wide and that it fits me like a glove.

Here is a suggestion that I did before the Corbin arrived, go to the local bicycle shop and purchase a good quality pair of riding shorts with the padded croch and ass. Wear it under your pants but over the whities .   Makes a huge difference.

It was my riding diaper.   2funny

I had a Corbin on 99 Interstate.  I really liked it.  I could ride all day with it as well.  I just decided to get the Russell because I have always wanted one.  No regrets on either seat.

I was thinking about a Russell but it is very wide, very large, and I already have a problem with the stock seat's width when I sit at the very rear, it impacts a zone on the underside of my thigh.  I spoke to Russell and they state that they really could not make the width smaller, the only option was their Sport models and I wasn't impressed (especially sight unseen).

I've ordered a Corbin but a full custom job, I gave them my measurements as well as specs on to how I want the dimensions of their design modified.  I'm of average height but with a natural slim-athletic build, and all the stock designs seems created for larger than average.  We'll see what comes out when I get the seat (I really have my fingers crossed on this one!)

I love my new valk. It came with the Corbin gunfighter seat on it and I love it. Have to put the stock one on when wife rides and I can go about 100 miles and then I have to get off. Not with the Corbin. I can go 300 miles and ready to go more.

Ditto , I agree , never liked any of the Corbins I sat on .
Nothing compares to a RDL , it appears  , they are a 14 hour drive from my home , too long of a trip for me ,  one of the owners off spring lives 7 hours away from me and makes a seat similar to the RDL,that's where I am headed when I have time

Indeed the bike is fine, smooth and unique (150 sold in France and the bike is not in the Honda catalog anymore).

I don't have any problem at all with the seat, since 2005 I owned a BMW K1200 R, then a K1200 R, then a 1000 GSX-R for a short while, then a KTM 990 SMT, a BMW R1200 GS WC, then an accident  Embarrassed, a Honda CTX 1300. Minus the latter, all of the seats were similar to the one on the Valk and I can ride for hours (I'm 65 kg).

The first thing I fixed on the Valk was the brake pedal, too low  crazy2. As the bike doesn't brake as much as I'm used to, I want to have my shoe on the brake pedal constantly.

I bought GW levers because they are adjustable and I changed for Michelins because on wet roads with the slippy Dunlop tires  Angry Angry, you don't have to drive like mad to have your pants wet too  Shocked

Jerry's right, if you keep the OEM Dunlop tires, you may need diapers ?  2funny

Ugh, my Corbin can't come in fast enough  Cry  My days are 300 to 500 miles on average, my weekends 400 to 1000, and this weekend my butt was burning after the first 5 hours.  I thought the seat was finally breaking in but nope, it was my butt finally breaking, period  Roll Eyes

Can't wait, the pain is really getting to me!  The bike is utterly perfect for me in every other way, the seat is the thing holding it back.

dinosnake,

Your butt is much tougher then mine.  My butt hurt after only 1/2 hour.  Last year I could only ride my valk using an air hawk.

Ugh, tell me about it.  I may say that "my butt was burning after the first 5 hours", but the word of the day was "first".  That day's ride was 8 1/2 hours, a joy ride is 3.  Those last 3+ hours was really uncomfortable!

Last year...........  A week from now like the weekend of the Kentucky Derb. my brother and I left to go see afew friends of mine in northern Georgia, I was watching the weather cast and it was going to be in the mid 70es to the low 80es..... we had a great trip..... rode like 1800 miles in 5 days and MY butt never bothered me at all.  Like I said before, I would rather take the $800.00 and use it on a trip and ride only 500 to 600 miles a day and see things rather than spend it on a seat that would let me ride 900 miles a day and miss all the fun of stopping to smell the roses.   Oh ya we did ride THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON on fully loaded bikes, my 2014 Valkyrie and his FLH, after a nite of drinking, and only stopped once in about the middle to let our heads stop spinning, WOW what a RUSH,     This year hopping to go through North Dakota and Montana, two states I have yet to rid in, will wait till late July or Aug. so it will be nicer weather I hope.... other than that we ride north west Ill. and southern Wisconsin almost every weekend.

Got back just before dark Sunday, after taking a friend up into Wisconsin to get his 1997 Bumblebee,  he is selling his older Goldwing. The guy he bought it from got a Harley after riding the Valkyrie for 10 years, and on his first day ride on the Harley a push rod tube seal failed and sprayed oil all over his chaps, boot and the side of the bike.......Oh what a bummer!   He said the Valkyrie never stranded him anywhere Iin the 10 years so was having second thoughts on selling it....when we stopped for a beer half way back Don was all smiles he said YA I really like it.......

Yup, but people will continue to shell out 20-30K for one... I wonder why anyone would want one of them archaic motors...air cooled, pushrods, the whole thing..I KNEW way back in 1983 how far behind the times they were technologically when I bought my Honda Shadow 750.  Human beings, at times the overt ignorance, and their stupid, silly egos.... wanting SO, so bad to be accepted.... by far the specie's greatest detriment.

I strive always to keep mine in check (ego)...which ah, is easy to do after defecating from a night of garlic pizza and beer... Shocked(phewy!)LOL
