Hi all,

I was looking at the Cobra 6 into 6 exhaust, but when speaking with my mechanic going from stock to the Cobras would require carb work.

Would anyone be able to confirm the above?

Only reason I'm changing exhaust is my current exhaust is starting to rust out on the mid chrome covers.  They actually melted and broke off.  The fix was to drill into the solid pieces and use pipe clamps to keep in place.  But now they are starting to rust through.

Any suggestions?

I have a 2000 IS and have a K&N air filter with pre filter in.  Other than that I believe all is stock OEM.

Thanks,
Mark

If you do a search of this board Radman, you will see that a lot of thought and research has been done on this issue in the past,,, mostly about a bit of power loss... BUT you can run cobras and keep the carbs stock (35 small jets and pilot screw adjustment recommendations) and the bike will run great,, I do.  You probably will want to keep baffles in the Cobras, as the note without, sounds great, but just too much for everyday use.

Truck stack mod would get rid of rusty look and maintain stock sound etc., as it is too if you're happy with other then the looks.

Just FYI.  I have a lot of muffler covers. Hundreds of them in fact. None are perfect but some are close.  If you are changing your pipes because the muffler covers are FUBAR'd then these are surely far better than yours. Not more than light scratches and no rust.  I'll send you a pair for $40 + shipping.  The latter depends on where you are.  Stateside, $15 ought to do it.  Canada, a bit more, have to check on the box size & weight.

These are ONLY the muffler covers.  I have quite a few tips, too.  Both styles. Same price.  I don't have extra header covers.

I realize with this post I may get buried with requests.  That's OK, I have lots of covers.  The main thing is my time to pick out good ones, package & paperwork.
