Clutch replacement- Questions
«

SO.. as I said in an earlier post.. Due to Rider friggin' error, I need to replace the Clutch..
Have gotten all the info here (Thanks for great write up Valkpilot!!!), and parts on the way, but I have one question..
Do I need to soak the Fiber friction plates ahead of time????.. seems like I saw someone on here do that in a plastic bag.
I am going to remove the clutch and take it to a dealer friend to have the clutch compressed and new guts installed (He is also going to mount new Darkside tire) and I don't want to hold things up since it is a bit of a drive....
As always, any help appreciated..

I don't recall anyone say this was done.
But when I rebuild my old C4 Ford tranny, I needed to soak the pressure plate in ATF before putting it together.
So it sounds like a good idea. Soak them in the motor oil of your choice.

Bradvalk, I don't know how far along you are in your project, but make note of the different length bolts as you take them out of the cover for the clutch. I also pulled my gas tank. I probably didn't have to but it made it easier to get to the top bolts.
Good luck on the project. Hopefully, you ordered a new cover gasket for the re-install.
