Though I have not searched the older archives, will this really fit on my standard? I can ususally fab up anything I need, but would love some help on things to be aware.  For 150 bucks and in decent shape it is worth buying just to resell if nothing else.  Constructive advice please.

EDIT=  Found a bunch of stuff on the old archive! Flame away.

I don't know for sure, but that particular year bwing may need to have the headlight opening opened up a little to accept the oem 9" (overall) headlight. Some of the HD Bwings did. Sorry, I can't remember the year Bwings involved. Other then that I believe a mounting systems can be crafted to mount any of them.

My aftermarket fairing had that problem. But, I was unwilling to open it larger because it would of required cutting back into the sides well beyond the opening. To me it was worth replacing my headlight with a 7" VTX unit because I wanted the radio/speaker system and there weren't too many choices for radio fairngs back then.
I don't recall that being too big an issue with the Bwing fairings that required cutting.
If you wanted to change-out the headlight it can be a pricey option and difficult to find a unit that will accept the wire harness.

The Hoppe fairing is finished on the inside a little bit, but I saw a yellow Harley at Cherokee the other
day that had a fariing with the inner shell (it was yellow too) that was great looking, finished
all the way across the inside of the fariing. I don't know if you can get the inner shell to
work on your Valk, just saying how great it looked on that Harley...

Are there ANY fairings out there that'll mount straight up to the stock mounts?

The Hoppe Fairing will it mounts right up with the Tourer hardware. Check with VRCC member Spoon he at one time worked for Hoppe and is building fairings on his own now.

The Hoppe is the only one I know of that is a direct bolt on - becomes part of
the windshield/hardware package...

hbcapsc,
I like the look of your Hoppe shell. Don't think I will use the inner of the HD faring, but maybe sell it for what I am buying the set.

I don't think that the Hopp will fit on mine.  My light bar looks like it'll be in the way.

I can't see your light bar... I think Ray had a lightbar on with the Hoppe when he had it... what
kind do you have?

I don't think there's a harder part to find than a Valkyrie Hoppe fairing... but they do
come up if you keep your eyes and ears open...

You can make one fit. My last winter project, a bunch o E-bay parts, used Memphis Shades windshield mounting brackets with some fabricated fairing mounts. Regretfully I didn't do a very good job of documenting anything, just took my time and built it all on the fly.

Sweet looking ride.  Are those Harley bags?  They work/look pretty good on the Valk.

The bags are tsukayu patrol bags, http://www.tsukayu.com/Patrol.htm  . I bought them from a co-worker for cheap, he bought them for his Kawasaki Vulcan and never did mount them up. I had to re-drill the mounting holes to make them fit the Valk, the mounting hardware works fairly well and they are secure. The bags use cheap rivets to fasten the hinges and locks, I drilled those out and replaced them with stainless steeel hardware. As far as size I think they are comparable to HD bags, I use HD saddlebag luggage and the fit is pretty good.
As far as mounting the fairing I used this site as a general guidline, http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/172/94/ . I used memphis shades windshield mounting hardware, and fabricated brackets to attach the fairing to the fork legs, the speedo and tach will fit into the fairing openings if you take the back chrome housing off of them, and I used the stock headlight without having to cut or modify the fairing. It was quite a project but pretty straight forward once you get going.

Thx for the info. Called my HD bud and I think we are going to tackle this. What year did you use? Also, did you mount the inner fairing 1st then attached the outter? Reason I ask is when we work on my HD bud we always took the ouuter off and the inner always stayed on the bike. Did you have to extend the speedo or tack wires?

The inner fairing is the one that you need to fabricate the mounting brackets for that will attach to the fork legs, and make sure you make them SOLID, I had to switch mine out because the first ones weren't stiff enough and there was alot of flex, the speedo cable will need to be extended because the radio you will mount will be in the way, I bought a 10" extension off of ebay for $10.00 or so that has worked great. The tach wires are fine you can route them up into position without modifying them. I wish I'd had done a better job of taking pictures and documenting the steps. Not sure of the exact year I think 03 or so, I think they are all the same on the newer touring models.

Very Nice job. That's the sharpest fairing project I've seen. cooldude

Yours makes mine look cobbled and wishing I had done more research.

EOD....

How the heck to ya get to the trip odometer to re-set it on your speedo.  Is there an access hole on there or something?  Or, do you just let it go to reserve and hope for the best?   Grin

And what are those four red round things.   ???

Used an old style HD odometer reset knob and cable in its original position on the fairing and attached the cable to the odometer reset knob on the speedo, so it is fully functional. The four "red things" are 2" tweeters. You can substitute those for other gauges, but for me ran into too much $$$.

That's an awesome and distinct looking Valkyrie...

You should send a high pixel picture that shows off both the bags and
the fairing shell to the calendar maker...

The first time I noticed a Valkyrie with a stripe like that was at inZane in
Johnson City... we walked around looking and in a sea of Valkyries, there was
only one striper... we finally decided it was stock, the pinstripe next to the stripe
was a decal, like the pinstripes on the two tones...

That looks like the same shape as the one I bought last night!  Inner looks same too!  Thanks for the link to the help site. That will come in handy!
