Hello guys, I bought a set of LED driving lamps that fit nicely on the crashbar ni front of the timing belt covers, im looking for your advice on how to route the wiring and some ideas on how to install an on off switch without drilling on the fairing panels. well. i am going to route the wires behind the timing belt housing and i was wondering if the cable i bought from autozone is going to melt or not with the heat of the valve cover. also im looking for ideas of how and where to mount a switch without having to worry about the looks, i want it to be as stock like as possible .jpg) .jpg) .jpg)

Mine are nearly in the same position as yours, I also have several wires snaked behind the timing case cover and next to the valve covers. I have had no problems, I usually put a plastic wire wrap of some kind mostly for chafing. Don't want no short circuit problems.
I used a triple switch that mounts to the top of the front brake fluid reservoir. I also wired that in with a fuse of coarse, then each switch has it's on fuse. I have one switch to the driving lights, one to my gps, and one still blank.

You can route the wires between the valve cover and timing cover. My Std is routed this way. No problems. The wires have a black plastic sleeve over them.

The wires should be ok but I would put some heat shrink tubing around them. As far as the switch you could get one of the switch blocks that mounts on top of the brake resivor.

Of course, but for automotive use, no nice and shiny accessore switches like those you mentioned that mount on the brake fluid reservoir and I don't want to drill the fairing plastics to mount those available

Well then if it were me I would get a small rocker type switch and cut a hole in the Radiator pod and mount it there. I know you said you didn't want to drill into anything but they look ok there. Not many places to mount without drilling/cutting something.

You could mount a switch down by the engine hangers. You wouldn't be able to see it as you were riding, but if it was on the left side you could feel it just fine and all the wiring would be concealed.

See the gray covered switch to the right of the black knob on the SS lever? That's where I mounted my on/off for the driving lights, right in front of the petcock. Just don't wire them in the headlight circuit, make it a totally separate circuit.

You might make a small bracket with a hole in it for the switch that you can tie strap or velcro to the handle bars or anywhere you like. With a little though you could make it look good. Tie straps, double sided tape, velcro, a piece of plastic or aluminum, can fashion anything!

Just don't wire them in the headlight circuit, make it a totally separate circuit. Separate circuit, and preferably with a relay. What kind of power draw (Watts) are your lights? The OEM fog light switch recommended mounting point is in the pod. Do you even need a switch? Using the lights from driving or night? Why not just wire them in with the head lights are a trigger. Maybe high beam have them on, low beam, they turn off.

Just an idea I have; the cross over cap on your handlebars risers is hollow. You could drill a hole there and mount a switch, the wires would follow the risers down and get hidden from there. If you are worried about weakening that clamp I've removed mine to mount my GPS bracket in the center of the handlebars so as to be centered on the dash. I used a set of caps for the riser clamps from a Honda Sabre. It uses 2 caps instead of one.

I just mounted a switch on the face of the radiator pod.
