I have been using amsoil 10wt40 for the last 5 years in my Valkyrie but the guy i was getting it from is no longer selling it and it is just to hard to get period. I did a little research and the Mobile One 15wt50 seems like it might be a good choice. And this is a car oil but people are still saying it will be ok. My bike has alway's ran great and no problembs so switching to another oil is a big deal for me. Will the Mobile One be ok to use. I know Oil threads always spark a controversay so i apologize. I just can not get the Amsoil anymore and i'am asking your opinion what might be the best full synthetic to use.   (Thanks Guys i appriciate it)

Shell Rotella T6 is a good oil at a great price for a synthetic. Has great following by Honda owners in general.

Whatever the Honda manual recommends and change it at the correct interval. With filter. Easy peasy.

Been running the Mobil 1 15w-50 since about day 4...... have 164k......
Just make sure that on back of can, bottle,.... there will be a circle with the oil weight... on the bottom part of that circle... make sure that it is BLANK....no friction modifiers.....

I just came in from the garage after installing a new Honda filter & the Rolella t6 full syn 5wt40 it sounds great. Been using the 10wt40 amsoil but everyone was pretty thumbs up for the Rotella t6 so i put some in. Is their much difference from the 10wt40  Amsoil to the Rotella lower viscosity 5wt40 and will hot weather play into the picture. Meaning should i change the 5wt40 Rotella out sooner. Thanks

both are 40 weights at operating temp.
5w will give faster oil flow at startup reducing cold start wear.

What ever oil u use as long as it says JASO-MA on the back side rating it is wet clutch compatable. Car oil works for some but have seen clutch trouble with it. Dealer told my son just to use car oil and he called me with little or no clutch. I use Rotella 15x40 and is wet clutch compatable. I changed his to that when we got the bike home. Never a problem since. To each his own doesn't matter to me but I like my clutch.

If you really want the AMSOIL, you can still purchase it online without the need for a local vendor. Go to http://www.amsoil.com. Free shipping for over $100. $49 per gallon, so if that is all you are ordering, you have to get a 3 year supply to get the free shipping.

I believe it is probably overpriced, but I buy it anyway for my Valkyrie.  Like you, I have been using it for many years with no complaints. I now use the Mobil 1 synthetic in my '82 SilverWing (15W50) and lawnmower (10W30). RJ (RIP) said he used the Mobil 1 15W50 in everything he owned, so that is good enough for me.

Like already posted, buy it yourself directly. If you can't buy enough for the bike, buy it for the car and truck also, maybe even combine the order with friends/family?

I went to Amsoil on my Shadow, and got a 7% increase in mileage on the first oil change. Paid for the oil here. Down side, Canadian Tire only place I could get it, at $19/qt. Too expensive to ship, or bring it across the border.

So I went to Rotella T6 synthetic diesel oil. Only $21 at Wally World, I buy annual 3 jugs. Does my bike and 2 gals for the BMW. Very happy for an annual oil change.

not true about an oil having to have a JASO-MA rating.

see article  Two-wheelers love oil too!

they have a pic of the new goldwing valkyrie as a bonus.
JASO spec'd motorcycle oil are basically the same specs as heavy-duty diesel oil standards.
JASO does not test oils, manufactures pay a fee to JASO and state their oil meets the specs.

see article, another grade for the heavy-duty upgrade?

even better diesel oils coming into the market much better wear protection and using a 10w30 for better mpg.

use technical facts not emotional logic and one will save money on oil and fuel costs.
I have posted my used oil analysis before using Amsoil 10w30 diesel oil for 8k miles from the hot summer through a cold winter riding with the bike sitting for 1 month, one of the toughest conditions for an oil. UOA came back normal to low wear and oil was still good for continued use, for at least another 2k miles, even after the oil was in the bike for over 2 yrs.

for one example there have been posts by others who run rotella 5w40 for 10 k miles and have over 100k miles on the bike.

15-40 rotella T6 in the blue gallon jug also can be found at farm and fleet (fleet farm) on sale for 19.99 with a 5 dollar mail in rebate a few times per year.

I use that on both my 2008 Can Am ATV's also has a good following online with that ATV as well as am sure the Valkyrie.   Sure beats spending 15 bucks per quart at ATV stealer for 'branded' Can Am oil and I know Can am doesn't make oil just slaps their name on it.  Also use aftermarket oil filters for the Can am ATV's I think hi-flo oil filters just as good at 5 bucks each as the Can Am 'branded' oil fitler at 15 bucks each - YIKES.

That reminds me,  been a few years since changed ATV oil best do that this spring before taking them out in next month or so.  The oil filter is a pain to get at though removing the side cover NO room between plastic and hex bolts.
