Howdy folks...my alternator has died and needs to be rebuilt/replaced. My problem is I've got it "almost" out but can't quite get it out all the way. It's cocked back end in and front end out but the :fins" wont clear the case. Is there anyone out there in the Brevard county area that has experience removing their alternator that could give assistance? I welcome pointers from all but this may require hands on help...thanks in advance for any help.

The fins hit the case and then spin slightly up to remove it or trim an 1/8 inch off the end of the bolt that is hitting the frame on the back. good luck.

Thanks Sixlow. With a little more effort I got the alternator out and now need to test it.

we ask at Daytona Fun Machine today about the cost and a 99 Gold Wing Alternator is $349.00.
don't know how much to rebuild one, it was $180.00 about 7-9 yrs ago.   but you might look on E Bay to find a cheaper/new one.
the GW ones fit, you just have turn it a little.  sorry didn't see this till after mike post and figured you get it.
Good Luck

$234 from Procaliber. Found they're cheaper than Partszilla on almost everything. That price is for a Goldwing alternator, any of them will fit.

As always, lots of responses and helpful suggestions...thanks to you all! I did find tons of alternators on ebay and amazon for under $200. Again, great community...need to visit the boards much more!
