I REMOVED the 4 small bolts to remove the square section passenger grab bar that I had fitted behind my passenger seat.

Pulled on the bar and it needed a good tug to come out. I thought it was just accumulated grunge holding it in place. A good tug and out it came.

Cleaned up I try to put it back in place.

Not going to happen. The 2 uprights have closed about 3/4 of inch. I don't have anything to spread them so what do I have to do to loosen them?

Remove bags and other stuff?

Get a jack screw that is long enough and close it to fit. Then just turn it to open and spread them apart. Slip in bar and then loosen jack screw to remove. Then slide to fit.

Paul, are you talking about the to OEM brackets that hold the passenger back pad frame?

Loosening the bolts that hold the bag frames and go into the fenders should give you enough wiggle room.

Maybe try wedging a piece of pine 3/4 x 1 1/2, cut just long enough to fit.

Need to be a tad under 8" to start. Can't find any online that size.

Local home depot or Lowes. they call it a turnbuckle

Done it and for the first time in my life I own a turnbuckle.

It boinged out a few times but eventually I mastered it.
