After 16 years, the low beam of one of my headlights burnt out.  Thinking of the SilverStar.  Put one in my Std some years back and it is extremely bright.

Just wondering about the difference between the SilverStar and the SilverStar Ultra.

I try to avoid riding after dark, but when I do I would like something brighter than stock.

Steve, I have not run either, but have read they are a good improvement over std auto parts H4 55/60s, but that a one to two year life is normal.

I have been running off-road H4 80/100s in my interstates for four years, with no mods to socket or wiring (the IS has relays in the headlight circuit), with no heat or other problem.  I did not have to change my aims from previous H4s, and am never flashed on dims at night (I don't ride much night either).  I did just lose the dim on one of my four bulbs.  The light is much better than 55/60, and so is the benefit of twin 80 dims in daylight.  Passed four annual safety inspections too (not that I get much of an inspection).

Compare price, and longevity (I dread changing bulbs, one goes in in 10 minutes, the other takes half the afternoon).

Good reviews too.

I installed Phillips Extreme Vision about one month and 1000 miles ago because that's what Farm and Fleet had in stock, pretty happy with how they light up the road.

I have found the ultra to really light up the road with the low or high beams used.

I have used the Silverstar Ultra for several years in both Interstate and Standard and have never had to replace a bulb.  Very satisfied with the way they light up the road.  Only drawback is the price, but it only hurts for a little while and then you can enjoy...Jim

Just be aware that the bulbs Honda uses in the Interstate (and the 1500 Wings) are not standard H4/9003 bulbs.  They are an expensive Honda-only 45/45 watt bulb with a different tab pattern.  An H4/9003 will fit but you need to trim the tabs as I remember.

Thanks everyone for the comments/suggestions.
Ended up getting a 2 pack of SilverStar lights.  Believe it or not, I put a SilverStar in the Std back in 2005.  And it is still working.  The original owner had one of those prism bulbs that made the light look multi colored, so of course it had to go.
My wife rides the Std and during the daytime running the high beam, with her behind me, looking in my mirror is like looking into the sun.
I'm sure this will be a huge improvement over the originals.
I will remove the fairing to make the change out easier.  While I am in there, I have a hard wire kit for my XM that I will tap into a switched source. Probably the same location where I hooked up the Zumo.
And yes, I have read over the years where a tab or two needs to be removed for the bulbs to fit.   cooldude
