Good info.  cooldude
Seems it changes every year. Now there pushing for compressions only 1st, and ventilations 2 min into it. We have to relearn everything now. We use to have to worry about airway 1st but now we don't.  Undecided Has to do with negative chest pressure during compressions.  ???

Advancement in medical tech and research I guess. Negative and positive pressure in the chest is a wonderful thing. Studies show the blood is still oxygenated for a few min without ventilations. They want compressions to move the O2 around the body. Every time you pump on the chest you draw a breath in, negative pressure. There is only 21% of O2 in the air. Plus alot of 'old' good meds are always being replaced by new ones. As a side note, no one wants to give mouth to mouth anyway.  Undecided Trust me, we always get puked on with mechanical devices, no way I'm getting my lips down there!  Shocked

A friend colasped last night at bowling having a heart attack,
my daughter and i rushed down to help, her and two other people started crp
till the emts got there and when they got him to the hospital, he had finally
started breathing on his own and had a heart beat, last night or today,
they put a stent in his heart and they took his breathing tube out and
he is talking and doing good,he has had heart problems for a long time,
tripple bypass ,so it dose actually save peoples lives to do CPR so if
the need ever a rises Please HELP.
I do not believe he would be here today if they hadn`t done CPR.
Going to go see him after work see how he`s doing.

I get recertified at work every two years...they changed the method about 6 years ago...

I have not had to use these skills in a few years...I will tell you, just getting O2 willl keep the brain alive and that is what is most  critical until the EMT's get there...

I think this should be taught to everyone, along with motorcycle safety in high school...
