Hey all,

I just got my Valkyrie about a month ago and I have no idea about headsets.  I'm looking for some recommendations on headsets and helmets.  What works well together?  I prefer a FF helmet.  I know this is a wide open topic and everyone has their own opinion, but I would like some recommendations from those that have more experience than I do.

TIA,
-Jim

What helmet do you have now?  J&M makes headsets to go into just about any helmet and that will work with the Honda 5-pin setup.  I have their performance line in my helmet.  These guys have a better price than J&M does:  http://www.twowheelsound.com/

Hope this helps.

Hey Jim, Nolan makes a good helmet that has its own intergrated headset so you don't have to worry about ear phones. I like my Shark Evoline with J&M set but you do have to modify a little. Good luck, Billy.

helmets are such a personal choice as to correct fit, not just for the sizing either, different brands, even in what is stated as the same size do fit differently. Try a bunch of 'em on.
I may be mistaken here, if I am please correct me....I think the Nolan Ncom is bluetooth, so it is fine if your co-rider also has the same (you can intercom with no cords) or use your bluetooth music system, radar detector, cell phone, but not bike to bike cb with other riders.
J&M does have a cordless bluetooth headset system, it is very expensive when you get all the components to make it work with a cb, and there are still some bugs with it.
The cheapest J&M works fine for just cb and intercom talk, but you probably want to move up the line if you are wanting good quality music in the headset

I currently have the HJC SyMax II  with J&M headsets, the Symax II is a fiberglass shell with a polycarbonite flip up chin-bar. They also have the IS Max for $100 less, also a flip up chin-bar, and the entire helmet shell and chin-bar are polycarbonite.
also have a HJC AC3, (discontinued now) , w/J&M

I prefer the Arai helmet, but didn't want to spend the $$ for it this time around.

If you are considering a bluetooth headset I feel compelled to tell you my story regarding the Scala Rider Teamset I purchased.  I purchased it last winter and first used it this spring when the weather warmed up here in TN.  I had constant problems with it.  It would work fine for 30 minutes to an hour, then lose connection with the passenger headset.  The only way I could get them to reconnect was to turn both off and turn them back on again...and sometimes this would not work.

I would have sold them, but I instead threw them in the garbage can....I did not want to sell something like that to a fellow biker.

This is simply my experience, others on the board have had success with Scala Rider and are pleased with them.
