Found this under my 98 Tourer. Looking through the parts Fiche I didn't see it. Looks like a spot of adhesive held it in place.

looks like it may be one of the "bumpers" on the underside of the gas tank, so to center and hold tight to the upper frame tube

I don't recall a bumper like that on the tank. I can't tell from the picture what size that piece is, but looks a bit like the piece on the back of the overflow tank. Have you had that off recently, they're not stuck on there with Gorilla Glue so come off rather easy.

Yes, John has it right. I knew I saw That pad before and couldn't place it. That's exactly where it came from. I hate when I know I know something, but cannot access the information

Ok, looks like after looking at the fisch (link provided) there are similar rubber pads under the bags. I am positive I had one just like that on my coolant tank, it fell off and I didn't replace it. Cant confirm that on the parts list. Either way its not going to hurt anything being un-installed.........next time you remove a saddle bag, see if it makes sense that it came from the bottom.

Okay after posting I saw the #7 on a fiche so I pulled the left saddlebag. I don't have one of those on my 98.
I'll check the overflow tank next. The rubber piece is clean my bike isn't.

John the piece is .750 wide x 1.5 long (inches). I did pull some wires through the back side of the overflow tank area.

OK, that sounds about right for the one on the back of the overflow tank. As for pads under the saddlebags, my '98 Tourer never had them. I'm the only one to pull the bags so I know they were never there.

The #7 rubber bag protectors are much thinner than that. Like 1/8 inch thick.

The one in the picture is 3/8 thick. I didn't get time to look at the overflow tank.

Every piece of rubber I've seen on the Valk has been black. I don't think it is OEM. But doesn't mean it wasn't used for any of the above.

Yes, that is what I thought, blue. I happened to be at my parts tonight, looking for something, and found this. Looking from the back of the over flow, it is glued to the left side (right side rear, looking from the front).

Hey that looks like the piece I have thanks so much for finding it's location.
I took that picture on a yellow pad maybe that created it's blue appearance ?

The piece is in place again. I appreciate your help John and Gorgonv I wouldn't have seen the place it came from that's a dark mostly hidden spot. The battery cover hides it from view. I had a roll of 3M mounting tape I put a piece of that on and with moves a heart surgeon would be proud of got it properly located. I'm glad it was found in the garage wouldn't have missed it if lost outside.
