The only symptoms I am having is that I have to let my clutch handle really far out before it engages... it's not slipping yet... but I feel like it COULD anytime.

Does anyone have experience with a worn clutch?

2002 Standard, 49k miles. I do launch hard a lot, and have for years.

Is there any possibility it's something OTHER than friction plates getting worn?

Thoughts?

Check bushing at handle and flush it out, see if that helps

These monster do that, but, I think you have ridden this bike long to know something is different.

So, the first thing that comes to mind is a worn lever bushing. Easy fix.

The brass bushing in there is worn a little, but it's counter-intuitive for me on the symptoms... I'd think with that bushing worn, the reverse symptoms would occur.

hrm.

Not to steal your thread, but I am getting (brand new), just a bit of jerkiness at initial let-out (right when it normally engages).  Even a pretty smooth, low rpm let-out.  Is this a symptom of rivets?  It may go away after a while, it's so new I'm not sure.

I don't think there are exact symptoms for the rivet failure, or that all have the same.

When mine went, there was no warning, it just went.

It seems that most are able to nurse the bike home though.

Well, I just ordered a replacement bushing... I am not optimistic really... but we'll see.
