Guys,
I'm getting ready to put on a set of Isogrips.
For those of you that have aready made a grip change are there any special
procedures to follow? I only see one adjuster on pull cable.
Thanks in advance for any helpful hints you may have.

I could be possibly speaking out of turn here because I have not changed to the grips on my 1800 however I believe they are exactly the same as the 1500 which I just did. If so on the throttle side the chrome end cap is twist off which is different from the clutch side. A long thin screw driver shoved between the grip and the throttle tube and she is off.  Or a thin score slice and she is off if you don't need to save the old grip.   My throttle tube was in great shape so grip glue and slide new ones on and no bother with cables. This also depends on If the ISO grips can be glued on the throttle tube.

The new throttle grip has the cable end barrel slots already molded in place.
I want to remove the entire old throttle grip & tube.
I opened the control housing and  can't see where I can get enough slack in the cables to pull them from the existing tube end.
Do you think I'll need to take the handle bar out of the risers to slip the throttle assembly off the end of the bar?

Mine did also, or I should say not molded in rather the grip was glued to the new tube, however the old throttle was fine so I just changed the grip and did not use the new tube.

Sorry I can only mention the way I did mine.  I'm sure many here have replaced cables.

I changed mine and like you I had to change the whole thing. One of the things that I had problem with is the aftermarket grip was longer than the OEM one. I wound up moving the whole switch housing in about 1/2 inch and putting on the new grips.

To get slack in the cable on the left side next to the VIN Plate there is the adjustment screws you should be able to get enough slack in loosening this. If not the only other way is to take it off the throttle body. The left grip really just pulls off with some effort.

This is the adjustment

This is how mine looks

I believe that you have to cut the threaded end off the throttle side. A poster on F6C Forum installed these grips. I have them, but haven't had a chance to put them on. He relayed to me that I would have to cut the threaded end off.  Undecided

Goldstar it depends if you have the whole grip with the cam for the throttle or not. If you do then all you have to do is take off the switch housing and the whole grip and cam will come off. If you dont and then unscrew the end and take the rubber off, this may take cutting the stock rubber material off. Just make sure because some install over the OEM grip and some you need to take off. The threads only hold on the grip not the plastic throttle housing that the grip is secured on.

I never cared for the ISO grips.  I had Avon grips on my 1500 Interstate and now my new valk.  Lots of choices even heated grips if you want that.

I have the Kuryakyn KY-6345's.These grips have the throttle cams attached. I am aware that I have to cut the threads off the throttle side. Buzzard didn't specify which grip he had. I suggest he take the old grip off and slide the new grip on and see whether it reaches the switch housing. Cutting may be necessary.  Smiley

NO, you dont have to cut the threads on the throttle side since its NOT the threads that hold the whole thing on. Just remove the switch housing.
