Bill and I are in the garage as we speak, humidity is a mess but he has not complained about a single thing.  Bill is a great guy to be working with.  He has set my garage up like a mobile shop and could work on the bike with his eyes blind folded.   Watching him work cements the idea that this shade tree mechanic made the best decision in a while.   I will post a follow up at a later time.

Update: Anyone willing to host for me to work on Valk at your place and that way someone can come to host in Atlanta to make it easier for me? Let me know and make sure have good room for my truck and trailer.
If none then I will have to come to each place.

Just wanted to follow up on Bills visit. Bill did a Final Drive service, changed the U Joint, did the Desmog, a Carb Sync, changed the Intake O Rings, checked the Petcock, changed a few vacuum lines, and put the correct hardware on the left side engine hanger.  I had a rear tire put on while Bill had the rear wheel off as well.  I changed the risers out for a set of Deuce style and took a nice ride this morning.  Everything is perfect.  It was a pleasure having Bill and his 4 legged companion with us for a couple days, great time.

In the process.  Bill will set up a mobile shop with ventilation, lift, table and all tools needed.

The first time I had Bill over working on my bikes, he just threw every nut, bolt, screw, washer, spacer, spring, and widget into one can as he worked.

I almost had a heart attack.  Grin

Just waved goodbye to BigBF this morning as his Mobile Wrench Party heads toward Sherrills Ford NC, Easley SC, Murphy NC, Savannah GA, Atlanta GA, and regions beyond  Cool

My generous nephew about 30 miles away allowed BikerGirl and me to host Bill, his companion Australian Shepherd, and Bill's HUGE rig out at his farm.  Bill was even able to create a 230V connector which allowed him to slave off my nephew's power supply for his rig rather than having to use his generator.  No doubt Bill appreciated this!  Now, if you are on BigBF's destination list and you are the least concerned about whether or not you can host his rig, your concerns are probably justified.  The truck and trailer are longer than an 18 wheeler and possibly as wide.  I simply could not have hosted Bill without my nephew's assistance, and the good thing is that Bill had a great place to work with his "home away from home" rig right next to our work area.

Anyway, having set up Bill's trailer the evening before, over a looooong 10 hour day we knocked out a final drive service (pretty dry at 68K miles but in good condition), rear wheel bearings, and new f/r brake pads with an excellent caliper cleaning service.  We also did a carb sync, discovered two of the pilot screws completely seized (WTF?!?), and a resync once this problem was corrected.  I've got a LOT of chrome on this bike Cheesy but Bill patiently worked around all the bling and buttoned everything back up afterward.

The bike performs great - with the improvement in braking being the most noticeable improvement.  It was simply a pleasure and a fantastic learning experience for this 59 year old kid to watch this skilled, meticulous Valk mechanic work.

Safe travels, Bill - see you at Inzane XVII! cooldude

Thank you and tell your nephew thank you too...
Nice farm and my Aussie get the taste what's real farm is like....
Your nephew's wife is cute but tough lady and she shake my hand like big Football players and she's like 5'-1" I thought my hand crushed I think little sore lol I'm just kidding. It was your bike trying to pull the intake tube with air horn in the way damn air horn you should have got mine Quad horn then my hand will be ok. No I'm just kidding Woton lol....

FYI: I will go to Savannah SC after Atlanta GA to rebuilt the carburetors...
Then go to near Baton Rouge LA then going to Alabama then on way up to Ohio I hope to make it for my nephew wedding on Aug 20 I think I got plenty time if I don't make it good I don't want tie around my neck and suit ha ha ha my wife can kill me at home in AZ lol
Anyone from Florida can come to see me at Savannah GA. I asked owner and he said sure... I will need to finish his bike first before anyone can come ok. Or some where in between Savannah GA to Baton Rouge LA. I can stop by on the way to west....

Thanks Woton and Bikergirl. It was good to see you two again last time at Inzane we didn't see much and I was so busy working on Valk at Inzane.

Drive safely my friend.   Keep in mind that if you travel through KY on your way to Ohio, you've got a place to stop and rest, shower and break bread here in Frankfort.    cooldude

Bill:
Looks like we have about 6 bikes that can be at my place for repair.
Please give ETA, may have to arrange my calandar.
Belleville is less than 1 hour East of Devils Lake straight down US12.
Plenty of room for you, dog, trailer, hookups, etc.
