Fork Oil Level?
«
on:

I have had a leaky for seal and I am going to try the Seal Doctor, if it works how do I check the level and top off the fork with what I have lost?
Thanks-
Scooby

In all actuality, you probably haven't lost enough oil to worry about it unless you had a major flood of oil exiting the fork.
If your going to all the trouble of checking the oil level, might as well just change the seals. As you will be more than half way there.
I use the dip stick method. I use a 12" white zip tie. The first (approx) 1 inch of the tie is smooth. Where the ridges start I measure up the tie and mark it by wrapping a piece of tape around it. 5.6" for a Std, and 5.8" for I/S. The top caps will have to be removed and the forks fully collapsed. The measurements are from the top edge of the fork...down.

Don't forget to take the springs out to measure the oil.

Not worth worrying about. To do it properly is quite an involved operation.

You have to fully compress the forks too. That's easier to do with the forks off the bike.
