Been riding my standard for about a year and it's been a blast. I finally replaced my cooling indicator switch but I'm concerned the fan is not working. When I'm at idle on a hot day, should I be able to hear the fan kick on and run? the red indicator light is not on but I've never heard the fan kick in...I heard it all the time on my PC800...
On my '98 Standard-now-Tourer, the fan rarely comes on, even on the hottest days. It has to be sitting at idle for a fair amount of time to get hot enough.
The PC800 I think would be a different story because of all the Tupperware. Same with a Valk Interstate because of the engine pods and fairing. On my Goldwing, the fans come on a lot at slow/no speed on hot days. These engines are all fully enclosed or partially blocked, so don't get the same airflow and can't dissipate to the air as effectively as a Valk Standard or Tourer.
