98 front wheel bearings on a 97

I have a 97 standard and I think my front wheel bearings are going. I have talked to a friend that is VERY good with Valkyries and he says buy bearing for a 98 or above because they are better, I just want to be sure they will work ok. I just want to check and see what you guys think too. Sorry if i'm bringing up an old subject but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer. Thanks in advance.

The only difference in the 97 - 98 is the rotors that I know of. So they should work.

It's not that simple.  The front '97 bearings have an outer race diameter that is smaller than the '98.  So, the bearing cup in the wheel is smaller as well.  The '98 bearings won't fit in a '97 wheel.

That said, I've got both and front bearing wear just isn't much of an issue.

Hate to rain on your parade, but all front rotors are the same for all Valkyries.

Ain't rainin on me . There you go thought I had heard they were different. Maybe the rotors wouldn't fit another year rim? Dunno but sounds like the rim is different in itself.
