well four, actually. 1) the four bolts i took off to remove the reed valve assemblies (2 per) are just for that, right? so no need to replace them?
2) do most people add the vent filters to the two lines as suggested by tim skelton? i went ahead and purchased them. just wondering if anyone's had trouble using them. what do most of you do?
3) i picked up a k&n for a good price. between that and the desmog, will i need to change my pilot screw setting? rejet?
4) i'm on a california bike, so it calls for 2 3/8 turns out. since i've removed all of that stuff, though, should i go to the 2 1/4?

Been a while, The 4 bolts that hold the Pair Valve dont think i used them be sure they dont secure the chrome water tubes. I would use the vent filters. No need to rejet. Run it @ 2-3/8 and if no problems should be fine it may be little Rich but that wont hurt anything. If you want some performance Install Needle jet upgrade before you change Jets.

i don't think i know about the needle jet upgrade. i'll have to do some searching. i did change the needle springs for throttle response.

re-install the bolts, they go into the oil galley. MarkT had oil all over the top of his engine.
K&N lets in tons of dirt into your engine. The stock filter with the metal screen removed is the one to use.

adjusted the pilots you'll find them set all over the place. I have ported polished and shaved heads,webcams,dyna3000,glasspacks and a few things I can't remember right now. I run stock jets and needles and Interstate springs, pilots set 2-1/4 turns out. Bike gets around 40 mpg when someone other than me rides it and dynoed at 118 Hp at the rear wheel.

hmmmm....wish i'd seen this earlier. i left them off. i started to put them back, but they bottomed out and i would have had to find shorter bolts. could have, but i assumed that meant there was no opening below them.

had a problem with oil shooting out on top of the engine. I have not desmogged, but I think I would at least look into this before firing it up for the first time.

with the shaved heads, do u have to run mid grade or premium? I've heard before about the shaved heads picking up about 10hp. How did this affect the carb/intake to airbox re-install? Thanks

6 degree trigger wheel with a MSD(8950) control box that grounds the Dyna at 4500 RPM. Didn't have any alignment problems going back together. My bike has copper headgaskets so I had to shave down the dowl pins so the heads would set against the block.
