Now I don't want to read too much into this, but have you looked at F6Gal's ride map.  The only state not filled in (in the continental 48) is Idaho.  Roll Eyes I'm not saying this will influence her decision, but it is a point to ponder.  Of course that could only mean Idaho will be included in one of the planned ride loops.  Still..................

Well, regardless of where we choose within the Serkle, I will be filling in that last state during or after the event.  Before InZane this year, I needed Maine and Idaho.  From InZane in WV we headed up to Maine and got that done.
Will certainly look good once full !
Question... I have these maps and can update them, I can save to my desktop, photostash/photobucket whatever, but I can't figure out how to add them to my signature. Help...anyone?

thx  Smiley

I am no expert at this stuff by any means. But I think you can go into your profile, hit modify profile settings, copy your map and paste it into the signature box.

Go to profile, under modify (on left) click Forum profile info, in signature box type (without spaces):
[ img ] your map URL [ /img ]
Use photostash or photobucket URL.  Then click change profile (bottom right).
I had to put in spaces to show you what to type, there should be no spaces when you put it in.

Bump.

Tentatively have my 'kitchen pass' arranged.  At least she said I could go ahead and start planning.

Surely hope I get to make another one.

When you are going to be riding mountain roads, remove and stow the backrest pad, and have her wear a parachute.  Wink

Billings, MT sure looks centrally located to most of the areas we want to ride. We missed the opportunity in Spearfish and look forward to June wherever it ends up. We've never been in that area. Sure is a lot of nice sounding places to ride.

I will make one further observation though...

This is F6Gal's "States I've ridden in map":

And this is Misfit's map:

You'll notice that both of these admins are missing one state that is very near the convergence point of my earlier map radius projections.

You may be trying too hard but not paying attention enough.  They did virtually tell you where they were going on the scouting trip.

News may be coming soon.  I believe we are currently just waiting on smoothing out and signing the contract.

For what it's worth the VRCC president told you the location in another thread.  She just didn't use the name of the city.

If you need a hint it is within but not near the center of the Serkle.  The again she did specifically tell you.   Wink

Look out Billings, here we come!

I just did two IBA rides, West through South Dakota to Sturgis, then up to Billings and back across North Dakota.

I love riding the Dakotas... and any other place where you can ride all day without looping around a major metropolitan area.

in 2,162 miles, the only major city I had to navigate was Minneapolis.

Billings is OK, but if I were considering a Montana location, I'd be looking at Red Lodge.  It's right at the foot of the Bear Tooth Highway, one of my all time favorite rides.

I think it has a nice KOA, though, and a few other campsites to choose from, so at least the wheels won't be squeaky!

Based on the KOA amenities alone, Bozeman should host InZane XVII.  crazy2

It's more complicated than a lot of attendees seem to realize.

The hosting hotel does provide enough rooms to keep everyone but also provides the parking lot, the banquet hall, and maybe a few other needs some based upon the rooms that are rented in the hotel. Whereas there may be some places such as a nice campground that would be a good spot for a number of riders to gather, they would not necessarily,or even possibly, be meaningful candidates for InZane.

For what it's worth, InZane annually provides a fair portion of the input needed to keep up the rather inexpensive VRCC.   Smiley

It takes a lot of work on the part of a few staff members.  It's a lot more than simply deciding that here's a nice place so we'll do it there.  coolsmiley

Whaaaattt? You're not going to be there? My marionette strings are getting threadbare and I was hoping you'd refit them for me. Please tell me Baldo will attend!

Seriously, though, I was looking forward to sharing a meal or two, or one or two hundred miles with you and your wife.  Embarrassed

VRCC Executive members, we appreciate your efforts and most (maybe all) of us who have attended Inzanes have an inkling about the balancing act required to make them successful. I'm just happy you folks are willing to make this your mission.

I haven't been there since 1998.  There are four motels.  I frankly have no idea how big InZane gets.  I've never been to one.  My wife and I are talking about going next year.

Here's are pictures I took of the Beartooth Highway in 1998.  This was taken in mid June, on the first day that the highway was plowed and open all the way to Yellowstone.  People were downhill skiing below the highway and snowmobiles were above the highway.

Within a week, all the snow was gone.

Thanks, I've been finagling since you posted the dates. But the reality is I'd have to be back to work on Wednesday at 6am. I could do the Early Bird with you guys and head back after the BBQ.  Grin I hope my post isn't taken as complaining about the dates, because it certainly isn't. I know trying to make this work for everybody is an impossible task that you guys do. See you in Prescott in October.  cooldude

I was hoping the same. But unfortunately I have always been opposite of normal holidays. When others are off enjoying themselves I'm chopping up dead animals. I propose we change holidays to just drinking, no eating. Smiley
I can't speak for Baldo, but I have a solution. Come out to the Catskills in October and ride with us all.
Does your son get to go with you this Inzane ?
You are riding from Arizona to New York in October?  I can't see having the magic time/money combination for that.  As for InZane XVII, we're still discussing the various possibilities of who in my family would go.  We're talking me and my wife, me and my son, and me and my son with my wife and daughter following in the car.  We're nowhere near the time when that decision would be made.

No that was the original idea, but we couldn't get that much time off. We are flying to NYC and renting a GW for three days for the ride. Then three days in the city as tourists. For some reason my wife has always wanted to see NYC.
I'm pulling for your son to get his turn.  cooldude

I vote for the third possibility.  Your lovely wife is a very positive addition to the event and I believe the trip and event would be a really enjoyable family vacation.   cooldude

I would really enjoy sitting down for dinner some evening with my wife and your family when we could discuss politely our relative theological perspectives.

Red Lodge is a very small town; it does not have adequate accommodations for our event.
It does host the Beartooth Rally every yr. They get a few thousand bikes.  coolsmiley I know tho, you need a place to hold events.  cooldude
