I have a 4 deg. tree coming from Daryl.

Are there any special tools I will need to do this job?

Will a digital fish scale work to check resistance?

I will need to get a torque wrench.  Will I be able to get by with one from Harbor Freight?

Quite a few auto part stores such as  ( auto zone, discount auto, and such) will let you borrow a torque wrench.

IMO do not use a clicker type dial torque wrench, unless it was recently certified/calibrated for accuracy and u know how to and have a lot of experience with a click type. (when was the last time a rental tw was calibrated?)
just buy a lower cost bar type tw. lower cost and always accurate esp if u make sure its on zero.

special socket or modify a regular socket for the stem nut.

Remove steering stem nut (74 or 76 foot pounds depending on Valkyrie model).

Remove steering stem bearing adjustment nut (9 or 12 foot pounds depending on Valkyrie model).

Both of these torqued nuts are being removed; no special tools are needed for removal.

Follow Daryl's install instructions, which are a much better and more simplified design than Honda.

If Daryl is still selling the same type of tree, forget the Honda instructions. The adjustment nut is on the bottom of the tree, and once tightened there is a set screw to lock it in place. Main problem you are going to have is changing the bearings and races, top not too bad but the bottom race is a pain to remove without the proper tools. His tree's come with new bearings and races.

It's on it's way, hasn't gotten here yet.  Will probably get the tools necessary before attempting the install.

What he said.  I installed his 4 degree trees for our sidecar a couple years ago.
They are... different; to the point of after looking at the hardware in his box and the hardware I removed, and scratching my head... I gave him a call.

So make sure it is a weekday during normal business hours when you start... cooldude

DARYL, Who is this DARYL you talk of, can this be the Wisconsin transplant that is currently sleeping with the snakes in GA.?

It's been so long since I even heard the name, I was unaware he was still alive and kicking.

LOL
