I have a 98 Tourer with two, 55 watt halogen driving lights that are wired through the high beam switch. I discovered this is a "No Go" and want/need to run them through a stand alone switch.
Can anyone recommend a clean, "Looks like OEM" product I can mount on the handlebar or some other location that does not look like something that just got slapped on in a hurry?

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff.

I would run a relay from the battery to the lights so as not to run to much amperage thru the switch. I belive Bon S has a plug in relay that takes all the guess work out.

Markt had a write up on how to wire the relay to your headlight

Bons makes a product called the smart switch that is basically the same thing in a neat and easy to install package

if you look at the top of the page odds are one of their ads is up there with a link to their website markt is horse apple ranch and bons is digisync

I have an extra BonS smartswitch harness for driving lights if you are interested.  I hate to have it just sit here.  Let me know.

I have the Show Crome switch block shown below.

Power to it comes from the starter switch originally powering the headlight.  It now trips up to three relay coils.  The micro relays are inside the headlight housing.  One switch and relay turns the 55w driving lights on/off.  One relay is controlled by the high/low beam switch.  One switch and relay is for the headlight.  Yes, I can switch the headlight off which is handy at times.  The lamps are powered by a separate 20 amp fused circuit.  The third switch powers a Deer Hornet, a powered deer whistle.  There is now less than one amp passing thru that vulnerable starter switch and I no longer have problems with it...
