Hello everyone , I tried to put new powder coated valve covers, I succeeded on one side but the 2nd valve cover was a challenge, I only manage to get four bolts in and the rest two were impossible . Found out that the threads  on the block where the screws supposed to go is slightly stripped at the enterance making it hard for the pointy head on the screws to catch the healthy part of the thread .
I also and just to check , I put the cover on without the washers on the  screws and they snug just fine. So before going crazy and use a heli coil , any other options or suggestions!
All help is appreciated

Are they Valkyrie covers with Valkyrie fasteners?

Goldwing covers will fit, but require their fasteners (longer I think).

Could you be using a Valk fastener with GW cover?

Yes I am sir thank you , didn't realize the gold wing bolts are longer , however one right side  valve cover went in just fine and 3 of the 6 on left side did go in fine just the other  3  left wouldn't catch the thread.
The longer bolts  might just do it

If you have the wrong bolts they are not "just fine" they are holding on by their fingernails

Larue, as Chris said....holding just by a thread, which will probably cause oil leaks out the bottom of the cover. Get a set of GW bolts and be done with, that's what I'd do and you have more money than me.  Grin

How about a picture? It's easy, Valks are smooth with ridges. The GW have inserts.

You said you had Valk covers, so valk bolts should have worked.

These are the anniversary edition, no chrome insert. Look sharp powder coated.

I know, several others also. They are getting hard to find.
