Wish I was out riding...

On a walk but not mine.  I have Joe McGraw's valk at the house that has been down for a few years with the clutch needing work.  But because it was not being used, other things needed to be done as well.

So I have the clutch repaired.  It was the damper plate that was coming apart as suspected.  Unfortunately it burned the steel clutch plates and I had to ordered those along with the fiber plates so I needed to wait for those to come in.  Then the dealer accidentally put the steel clutch plates for a CBR900 in the bag instead of the ones for the valk, so there went another day getting the correct parts.

Did a de-smog on the valk while waiting for parts.

I put the clutch back in and installed a new set of rebuilt carbs.   Joe bought another set as his needed to be rebuilt from setting so long.  Also because it had set so long the brakes were shot, so I rebuilt the rear caliper as I needed that to hold while I torqued the clutch nut.   I still need to rebuild the from calipers over the next couple of days.

I still need to drain the gas from the tank and refill with oil and put a new battery and but I should be able to fire it up either tomorrow or the next day.

Might have finished today but my home air conditioner died this morning so off to the store to buy another and install that and that seemed to wipe me out Wink

Fixing Joe takes more work Smiley  But he is still around and still Joe.   He has been going through some issues with family and Angela just went through having both parents pass away about a month apart Sad

Chris and I got the parts together to do his valk a few years ago but this year I vowed to go get it and fix it.  Had most of the parts, more in stock than the honda dealer actually, so time to put them to use.

I do need to drink more water and piss more as I just am finishing a bout of gout Sad  Too much cocktails I guess.

I'm sorry, but I heard that it was too frickin' hot to work on a Valk lately! Glad you got so much done, sorry to hear about Joe & Angela's problems. I was actually happy today when I got the call that the Procession was cancelled for today. My best to you, Trudy and the kids. See you one of these days, and thank you again for the visit!  Kiss

Sorry to hear of Joe and Angela's family issues.....  Sad
Too much red meat and alcohol causing your episode with gout Brett ??
Time for more chicken and fish and step away from red meat....
I wouldn't cast the blame solely on alcohol.....
" more water is never a bad idea, unless you are wearing cement boots"  !!!

Hope all is well with the family Brett.....
