Probably a stupid question but after searching I could not find any answers.
Will a Mustang or Ultimate seat fit with the stock passenger seat or do I need to buy both?
My wife likes to ride just often enough to keep the rear seat, but not often enough to justify paying hundreds more for a second seat if I can get by with just a new drivers seat with the stock passenger. (I own a 98 standard if that makes a difference)

I have the Ultimate with the stock rear seat had no choice, the saddle bag covers where hitting the rear Ultimate seat. I will probably have to modify the saddle bags if I want to use the rear seat.

Keep in mind, the King boy Ultimate might be a problem with stock pillion (dunno).
Mustang only makes one size drivers seat for all model valks, no problem likely there.

RF if that picture in your avatar is your bike it looks like a mustang front and rear. For me I would buy both used or not just for the sake of the way it would look.

I've got a 2000 Super Valk with the Ultimate rider's seat and backrest, and the stock Honda rear seat. It works fine.

I might be interested in the Mustang driver if you are wanting to depart with it if it don't have conches.

I have the Ultimate with the stock rear seat had no choice, the saddle bag covers where hitting the rear Ultimate seat. I will probably have to modify the saddle bags if I want to use the rear seat.
I love the "lids hit the seat" feature of Ultimate seats... the lids are held securely open that way... -Mike

I bought a Mustang Seat with Driver Backrest from EBay and although it fit the bike fine, the stock passenger seat completely covered the hole for the Driver backrest. So if you are just going with the seat it will fit fine with the stock passenger seat. If you are going with the driver back rest, you will need the 2 piece seat.

I have the same problem. Myself, I ride mostly solo (1997 Valk). My rear seat is fine and I like that it says Honda on it. My driver seat is in bad shape and uncomfortable anyway and needs to be replaced.
Based on my discussions with most of the various aftermarket seat manufacturers, only the Russell Day Long front seat will fit with the stock rear seat on a Valkyrie. The good news is that Russell Day Long seems to get the most consistently good reviews. The bad news is they ain't cheap. The other thing is that the color shade of the Russell probably wont perfectly match the stock rear seat but maybe someone here may have better knowledge of this.
I'm fraught with the decision of whether to splurge on a Russell, myself, or to look for a good, used stock seat from a later year Valkyrie-a much less expensive option and maybe the color would match. I understand Honda upgraded the seat starting in 2000 but I am not clear on this.

I have no problem with the later model Honda seat. Cheap is good and it works for me.

I have Mustang seats and have had the stock rear seat on with it. No problem whatsoever. I like the look with the stock on better, but passengers love the Mustang.

I use the stock rear with the Ultimate driver, no problems. I think many do this.
