Finally found some red 3-way function rear lights for run/brake/turn. Came in today's mail, they're only 1/5" in diameter but quite bright. I have some 3/32" SS flat stock, 3/4" wide, so cut two 5" pieces from it.  Drilled one end to match the dia. of the mounting bolt for the light, the other end to match the dia. of the shock mount bolt. They mount a bit different than the Valk shocks. After drilling I put two bends in those pieces for the purpose of moving the light a bit closer to the frame. After much drilling, banging, bending, buffing with the air tool, I have them mounted. I'll work on the wiring over the next few days after which I'll pull the new mounts and paint them to match the frame....hammered black. The lights are also black, bullet style, if I can find some round 1.5" amber LED boards I'll buy another set of these lights for the front and change out the LED board. Guess I could take a couple pics, maybe tomorrow, I'm tired now.  Cheesy

Forgot to mention....I picked up two cans of 1300-2000 degree black paint at NAPA last week. Tuesday afternoon I put three coats on the headers then let them dry overnight. They really looked good, reinstalled them and slipped the mufflers on then rolled the bike out onto the driveway. Figured I needed to idle the bike at least two times with a cooling period in between, the method of curing the paint job. So for the next couple hours, the old hoss sat there first for 10 minutes, followed by a 20 minute cool down. Then 20 minutes with a 20 minute cool down, after which it said to run it under normal operation for 30 minutes. I don't have a current tag on it yet(coming next week), so stayed on the sidewalk. Finally decided one time to go up two houses and out her driveway, then goose it down to  the place next to ours, in the drive and up the sidewalk to our drive. Kinda fun, the old girl is light and quick, can't wait to get it on the street, probably next month. It won't be painted and the seat won't be done, but should be able to ride it a little.  cooldude

'Bout time....Pokey Mon!  cooldude

Sounds good! Maybe a breakfast run up this way some morning on it will help cure the paint.

Pappy, I still have a number of little things left to do. I think I'll have to pull the rear wheel like I had to do with the front. It loses air and the front tire had to be pulled, rim cleaned down good as well as the tire bead, then remounted. The guy used some bead seal on it when he pumped it up and it hasn't lost any air since. Looks like I'll have to do the same with the rear.  Angry  I'll probably lose the centerstand, the aftermarket headers have a different exit angle at the back and the footpeg for the c/s interferes. Once I have that figured out I'll clamp down the exhaust and hang it, for now it's just slipped in place. When I first started it after painting headers you should have seen the smoke....and stink. Took most of the way through the second heating session for the smoke to clear. At this point, I need front turns to wire in so I can mount the headlight, mount the exhaust, probably do the rear wheel as described above, still have a problem with the front brakes. They stop you good, just not a solid handle....still kinda mushy. I eventually need to cut off about the rear 8" of the frame where the fender hits when I park my dainty glutes on it. Since this is going to be a bobber type solo ride, that portion of the frame won't be used anyway. Already looks kinda neat I think, maybe I'll slap the side covers on it, cut the frame then take a couple pics.

That is great John.  cooldude

I think a short video of you riding the 1200 would be nice, let me know if you are up for it and we might be able to work something out.

Your making steady progress John  .  It sounds like the bike and nice riding weather will come together just about the same time.

John, I remember well !!  I used to pull and repaint the headers on one of my old Z/28 Camaros. Always used that process to cure.
