My wife and I had spotted two small 18 ft. Toy Haulers in South Daytona last month. We were quite intrigued by the fact that they were supposed to be able to be towed by a half ton pick-up. We have a 2004 Chevy Sivlerado 1500 with a 5.3 liter Vortec motor and the towing package.

Does any one have a similar truck, and use it to tow a Toy Hauler?
What size and type of trailer do you have?
Did you experience any unusual towing situations?

I have a HOBBY Toy Hauler.  My half ton Chevy Silverado pulls it fine except on steep grades.  Pulling it in 3rd instead of OD, of course, it reduces the mpg to about 15 from 22mpg.

tell you.  They will tell you that you can pull a 30' 10,000 lb. RV with  Volkswagon Rabbit if it will help them sell it to you.  I never had a travel trailer or bumper pull, but most folks will tell you that a 5th wheel RV is more stable and easier to pull than a bumper pulled unit.
We have a larger version 5th wheel toy hauler and a 1 ton Dodge diesel dually.  I like sleeping in my own bed and taking the bikes along.  If you want all the details, pm me or email, but ours is much different from the one you are considering.

an 18' should not be a problem.  I have pulled my 26' Weekend Warrior with my z71 once to see if it could be done, but it is a heavy trailer. 6 mpg and pulled its guts out.  Look at the empty weight of the trailer and the hitch weight.  You may need a load distribution hitch and or a set of air bags.  Look at the ratings on the axles/tires and ask if they can weigh it to see if your (______) and however much water and gear are going to not overload it.  Good luck to you
