Gentlemen, looking for some advice....
Went riding today, had over 1/2tank of gas when left home. Heading down interstate 75-80, noticed I was down on power, had throttle pinned just to keep up with traffic. Then noticed backfiring/popping. Only had done 30miles, figured I was out of gas, switched to reserve, bike ran slightly better but not much. Headed for home, bike died couple of miles from home, no fuel. Had only done 90 miles on full tank. Get home notice wet patch on floor where I usually park bike. Pull tank and take air filter out, filter is wet with gas and there's gas in bottom of airbox. Any ideas??? New intake O-rings and petcock rebuild at IZ15. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like flooding carb. to me. Was the tank empty when you removed it? Enrichment valve sliding to the off position all the way? The airbox should drain. Has it been sitting?

Gotta be blowing fuel back up into intakes and box. Why?  Semi clogged jets? Start from bottom of carbs and work up.

++ There should be no direct path for fuel to enter the air box, save through the carb intake tubes. I'd start with a compression test, then verify the float valves are working.

A bad float/stuck needle would do this, wouldn't it?  Not stopping fuel flow and filling the carb to where it basically over flows with fuel out the top?

My damn Wheel Horse C-85 did that to me last month.  Found a hole corroded in the brass float and filled with fuel, causing the fuel to run continually.

Wouldn't hurt to check the oil for fuel. Make sure it's not being diluted.

My ford 8n did it too... a bad petcock (sediment bowl) and
a carb that needed cleaning was the cause.

A bad petcock on a Valkyrie will do all that running funny and
leaking gas stuff.

There's a plugged line coming from the airbox on a Valkyrie
where gaseous goo collects, we're supposed to pop the plug
and drain the goo occasionally... maybe the wetness in your
airbox is coincidental and related to undrained goo?
