eight years. It is on its last starts. Voltage is 12.6-12.7 even after a 1.5 amp charge for 8 hrs.
Looking at some Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Batteries. Bikemaster looks promising.
Anybody have any experience with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Batteries? Any recommendations? Thanks

I think he said 8 hrs. on charger. On a note $25 for lithium specific tender also.

Yes, used for 1/2 a year, then removed and sold the bike, put back in the tended Lead Acid.
Like big poppa said, found it worked well. Put I bought the largest CCA battery that would fit.
I think you would get the same results with a larger CCA lead acid battery for $50-$100, as the LiFe battery for $300 + $80 for the special charger, which I did.

yes first sign a battery is almost done resting Volts start to dip below 12.7. even after being on a charger for 8 hrs. reading at 13.01 after charge and then a few hrs later, 12.7-12.6, this battery is on the way out and wouldn't last in the winter season coming up. A Lithium battery does not need a special charger if the battery already has balancing circuitry built in. So far it seams all of the main manufactures make them this way. Only other thing that needs to be checked is the max voltage the charger puts out. And the charger must not have a De-sulfation mode. tons of info here http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/motorcycle-batteries-agm-gel-wet-lithium-iron-phosphate-lifepo4.757934/which indicates living in a cold winter climate I need higher CCA for a Lithium battery. I have the Deltran Battery Tender Lithium battery in my DR200, cold temps require a discharge of the battery to warm it up, but that means tapping into the reserves hence the need for a higher CCA. So DBT is too low on the CCA for the Valkyrie in my year round climate conditions. Their higher CCA model is too large for the Valkyrie battery box.

8 Years isn't too bad is it.
My original lasted 11 and the next was 8 [I think].
This spring when I hit that little button for the first time it just let out a 'POP' and that was it. I just matched one up at TSC. Haven't been able to use it yet though.

first don't know if same manufacturer is making that battery still. It now cost $80, can get a LifePO4 replacement for $130-180 with twice the life. Battery tender is $100 but no good for my climate temps, would be great for constant temps above 40F. Secondly, always looking to reduce weight. With the light weight mirrors I have installed and a new LifePO4 battery I will be seeing 10-12lbs less weight. Lighter front fender and brake disc front and rear are also waiting to be installed. Thirdly, the LifePO4 is much smaller for a little more storage under the seat, one/two things that are always in the hard bags can fit there.

My Interstate battery is due for a replacement (needs a jump if it sits more than a week) so I stopped by Walmart. I've had good luck with their batteries in the past. Unfortunately, the 2 Walmart stores I checked no longer carried a battery to fit the Valkyrie.
I'd be interested in the Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, too. The last time I looked the Shorai brand was expensive, over $300 as I remember.

Shorai is rated so, so the best right now is earthx $219.00, it's a little over kill for an everyday bike, best suited to extreme conditions per some message boards. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EarthX-LiPo-Battery-ETX18C-CB1000R-Hayabusa-Ninja650-GSX750R-gsf400-bandit-CBR-/261784497081?hash=item3cf3926bb9:g:sGYAAOSwv9hW2QKE&vxp=mtrhttp://earthxbatteries.com/shop/ETX18C

I'm curious how long you had the Interstate. I priced a AGM from them today for $90.

Checked WM last night. they changed the number, If I remembered correctly this is the new number ES-TX14-bs. looks like a different manufacturer.

Now granted this is my cage but I'll throw it out there anywho. 7 years out of a 5 year-Wal Mart-battery. The svc mgr at West Plains Mo.-been talking with him since I retired-told me the CAR and TRUCK batteries are made right here in Missouri. This post showed up AFTER I bought my new battery from wally wurld. So consequently have NOT had a chance to ask him bout wally wurld M/C batteries. Course the svc mgr I Know will be retired just before 2017 gits here. Ask the svc mgr at yer wally wurld or have a look see at the battery case. RIDE SAFE.
