Our ride after the catfish run on Aug 27th will be to the Red River Stew Festival in Clarksville. Put it on your calendar as details will come later. This is like a chili cook-off, but with stew. You can eat until you pop. You can also visit the Meyer's famous Old Vic per Daniel's invitation.

More coming. Catfish first.

I think the planners of this ride must look at my work schedule when setting the date.  Angry
I only work every third Saturday and for the past 2 years the ride has been on MY Saturday to work.   Cry

Oh well.  This past Saturday Lori and I had a fantastic 125 mile round trip on the "not so heavily traveled" roads up to Oklahoma where we  picked up 91 East (which became 78) that eventually meandered south back into Texas where we got on 121 to jiggy jog southwest.  From there we headed for Big Slicks in Westminster for a couple of delicious burgers (not as good as the stew in Clarksville) then back to the house. Smiley
The weather could not have been better!  Cool

The current plan would be a 9:30 KSU from Maxim Honda, a roundabout journey through Bugtussle, Paris, Reno and Detroit to Clarksville.

The dent in the plan so far is the 100% chance of rain forecast for Saturday.  Of course - I'm leading the ride!!!

I'm still working the exact details.  We might go by Woody's farm and wave at him.  Don't know yet.

I need a ride, but if we're still at 100% chance of rain Saturday (on Friday), then maybe we should postpone the trip.

I normally am a bit better about posting the rides - it's been a busy week so am behind.

RM and I have been watching the weather forecast. The good news is that the temperatures will be cooler this weekend. The bad news is that we're supposed to see a lot of rain coming at us while we would be riding to Clarksville. Rain and group rides just don't mix.  We're going to call  this one off and look for another ride opportunity soon.

Post 'em if you're going somewhere and want Valk company!

Also, don't forget the Ride for Kids Oct 9 and the Hill Country Weekend (get reservations now)

Darn! I might have to drive up there in the cage. I was looking forward to a stew cookoff.

It's a great event - go hungry!

Amazing how we have zero rain chances except for Saturday and since it's blowing from east to west, we'd not be able to launch until afternoon.

I am almost positive it will now be dry as a bone since the ride is cancelled.  But it's the safe thing to do.

I am sorry we are not going.
Rain takes the fun out of  riding, it doesn't mix well with u-turns.
Since Tom misses out on our rides, he gets to pick the next date (unless it was already decided).
I will be glad to plan the next ride and keep us rain-free.
What about BBQ, any other food choices?

I would have joined you but I have been off my feet since Friday.  It is in the same foot I broke my toe on but I think it is RA related.  On the bright side, I have my Interstate on the mend.  Tail lights are done  Smiley and I have another engine guard but can not work on it due to my feet.

Been wanting to make the stew festival for sometime now, rain caused second thoughts again. Didn't get doodlie squat here, hopefully next time. Ride Safely
