My wife and I wanted to go for a ride yesterday.  Decided to go visit the Grand Kids.  They are 125 miles east of us.  Got a late start, so it was starting to get dark on the way back home.  Halfway home, we stopped so Laura could gas up and since the temps had dropped, we put on our jackets and helmets.  The winds were gusting upwards of 44 mph.  I stopped twice because I kept hearing a clicking noise that seemed to be coming from over my right shoulder.  Never found or could see what it could be.  When we got home and I took off my helmet...it's a Bell Shorty, one of the snaps on the visor was unsnapped.  With the strong winds coming at us from a 2 o'clock position, there was a lot of helmet buffeting.  That had to be the source of the noise because it wasn't there until I put the helmet on.  It's funny now, but last night it was driving me crazy not being able to figure out where that sound was coming from.

Steve,

Had the same thing happen, earlier this year...

Headed out of the garage, pointed East, with the wind at my back.  Had her up to 55 - 60, and all was well.  Turned North, now a good cross wind, and for a few miles, held her down to near the posted speed of 35.  Once out of the populated area, took her up to 60, when I got this awful buzzing, just as I topped 55...  Slowed down, buzz was gone, sped up, and it started right at 55 again!  Was checking everything I could touch...  Windshield, fairing, windshield pouches, tank bib, anything within reach?!?!?  Then I turned my head sideways, and the buzzing was gone.  Touched my visor, and the center snap was undone.  Snapped it back, and no more noise!

A very unnecessary panic attack  uglystupid2

I traced a mysterious clicking noise to the vents on my Shoei X11... I closed them one
cold day... finally realized the clicks were only there when the vents were closed.

I had a visor snap come loose once.It started making a lot of noise about 65mph, I 'ld slow down an it would stop, speed up and it started again. It bugged the crap out of me until I got to the house and found the source.

I have a helmet visor that makes noise under certain cross wind conditions.  Took me a lot of hours of riding to find the "bike" noise!  LOL
